Company of Heroes (2006)
Note: Even though this is a real-time strategy game, guns can be seen during gameplay (requires good timing and camera skills) and in several cutscenes.
The following guns can be seen in the 2006 real-time strategy game and it's stanalone expansion packs Company of Heroes:
United States
M1A1 Carbine
The M1A1 Carbine appears as the standard issue for American Rifle squad leaders (denoted by their radios) and airborne troopers as well as artillery gun crews, though M1A1 Carbines were commonly issued to U.S. paratroopers, gun crews and squad leaders would carry a regular M1 Carbine in real life.
M1A1 Thompson
The M1A1 Thompson is used by a few soldiers in cutscenes only, mainly Captain John MacKay and Sgt. Conti. The Thompson is an upgrade for American Ranger squads. It also appears in the tutorial in the hands of the starting rifle squad (this is the only time a rifleman is seen carrying a Thompson).
M3 "Grease Gun"
The American engineers in the game use M3 "Grease Guns" as their primary weapon. The M3 "Grease Gun" is pretty weak due to the gun's short range, which makes it completely useless and leaves the engineers vulnerable.
M1 Garand
Many of the riflemen in the riflemen squads in the game use M1 Garands. Note that a Riflemen will fire faster at a shorter range.
Browning M2HB
All of the Sherman tanks have mounted Browning M2HBs. The P-47s in the game are seen firing a possible aircraft version of the Browning M2, since that most planes were armed with that at that time. If you upgrade your halftracks, you will have an M3 halftrack with 4 Browning M2s in quad mount.
Browning M1917
Despite being rarely issued to the U.S. Army during World War 2, the Browning M1917 appears as the main weapon for American gun emplacements and machine gun crews.
Browning M1919
The jeeps in the game are armed with Browning M1919s. The Shermans in-game also have one mounted in their hull. The Browning M1919 also has its infantry version in the game, which appears late in the game.
Browning M1918A2
In the game, the Browning M1918A2 appears as an upgrade to the riflemen squad's loadout. The upgrade replaces the riflemen's standard-issued M1 Garands and M1A1 Carbines with Browning M1918A2s. The Browning M1918A2 in-game causes more damage than the standard semi-automatic rifles, but its range is cut in half, making it only useful at short range.
Mk II Grenade
The riflemen and the airborne troops use Mk 2 hand grenades. Unlike most video games, they take longer to charge and explode since that the user must take them out and then pull the pin.
M2 Flamethrower
The M2 Flamethrower is available as an upgrade to the engineer's weapony, which gives an engineer an M2 Flamethrower. An interesting fact is that the M2 Flamethrower in-game has no front grip and the trigger is repositioned to the back grip.
M1903A4 Springfield
U.S. Army snipers in-game use M1903A4 Springfields.
M18 Smoke Grenade
M18 smoke grenades are used by U.S. airborne troopers and several ground troops. The smoke grenades can be also modified to be fired by M2 Mortars, vehicles, and be thrown by ground troops.
M18 Recoiless Rifle
Airborne troopers can be upgraded with M18 Recoilless Rifles. The M18 Recoiless Rifle is anachronistic as the M18 was developed near the end of World War 2 and it wouldn't be ready that fast for the Normandy invasion.
M2 Mortar
The M2 Mortars are used by U.S. mortar teams and British mortar teams. The one in-game can also fire smoke rounds, which helps conceal movement and cover the retreat for Allied troops.
Sticky Bombs
U.S. infantry troops have throwable stick bombs, a bomb capable of sticking onto objects.
United Kingdom
Lee Enfield No.4 Mk. III
Many of the British soldiers begin with Lee Enfield No.4 Mk. III. Once the player gets enough munitions, British riflemen can be upgraded to have scoped Lee Enfield No.4 Mk. Is.
Sten Mk. II
The Sten Mk. II is the main weapon for the British Lieutenant ("Leftenant" in the British-English language) and the airborne commandos (possibly SAS).
Vickers machine gun
The British machine gun emplacements and machine gun crews in the game are armed with Vickers machine guns.
Bren light machine gun
Bren carriers and infantry sections can carry Bren light machine guns. The Bren light machine gun is available as an upgrade to the armament of British Infantry and elite combat troops.
Nazi Germany
Luger P08
German artillary crewmen and officers carry Luger P08s as self defense against infantry. Strangely, the Luger does almost accurate one shot kills, no matter if the enemy is equipped with some automatic weapon.
MP40
Many of the German soldiers in the game use MP40s. Unlike most World War 2 movies and video games, the MP40 is accurately shown held correctly and the folding stock is extended.
Kar98k
The Kar98k are used by all German combat infantry. Unlike the American riflemen, the Kar98k users can defeat the M1 Garand riflemen at range, despite its low rate of fire. However, at closer range, the M1 is superior.
MG42
The MG42 are used in many of the bunkers in the D-Day campaign and mounted on many of the German tanks, motorbikes (the ones on the motorbikes and tanks have drum magazines), machine gun emplacements, and halftracks. It is also the primary weapon for the German machine gun crews. In the beginning cutscene of the D-Day mission, we see MG42s firing and mowing down troops similarly to the German gunners in Saving Private Ryan.
Gewehr 43 (scoped)
The German snipers in the game use scoped Gewehr 43s. In the Opposing Fronts expansion, the Gewehr 43 is available as an upgrade to the arsonal of the German elite combat units and is only useful at long range.
Flak 38
The AA guns in Nazi bases and in cutscenes are actually German Flak 38s. They are also the main weapon for the Flakpanzer IV.
Panzerschreck
Sturmtrooper squads and grenadier squads can be upgraded with Panzerschrecks to combat enemy vehicles if needed to be.
Panzerfaust
The Panzerfaust is a weapon that Sturmtrooper squads can obtain through abilities. It allows the Sturmtrooper squad to fire a quick rocket at a vehicle when Panzerschrecks are unavailable.
Model 24 Stielhandgranate
The standard stick grenade of the German army, the Model 24 Stielhandgranate, is unlocked once you upgrade your HQ or you select the Blitzkrieg Doctrine.
Sturmgewehr 44
German sturmtroopers and elite combat units are seen with Sturmgewehr 44s. A few are seen on D-Day missions, which is anachronistic. The Sturmgewehr 44s weren't issued to the Wehrmacht until around June 13.
Flammenwerfer 42
The German pioneers can be upgraded with a Flammenwerfer 42, similar to their counterpart.
FK 38 Field Gun
In the single player campaigns and in some maps, the Flak 38 Field Gun makes an appearance and is mostly used by German artillary crews. Some are scattered all over some maps and can be used by anyone.
