Predator (1987)
The following guns were used in the film Predator
M16A1 assault rifle
The two members of the special forces team that exclusively carry the M16A1 rifles are Billy (Sonny Landham) and Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Dutch's M16A1 is fitted with an M203 grenade launcher, while Billy's M16 is fitted with an M16A2-style handguard and a Remington Model 870 shotgun attached under the barrel. Dutch later uses shells from the M203 to prepare improvised weapons for his final showdown with the Predator.
Actually, if you look closely, you can see that they have no forward assists, which means they can't be M16A1s, either. They also don't have fencing around the magazine release. That means they're actually civilian AR15 SP1s fitted with A2 handguards and converted to auto-fire by the armorers.
M60E3 Machine Gun
The M60E3 machine gun is carried by Sgt. Mac (Bill Duke). The weapon can easily be identified as an M60E3 from the forward grip.
GE M134 Minigun
Nicknamed 'Ol Painless', a hand-held M134 Minigun is the main weapon of the movie carried by Blain (Jesse Ventura). It has been modded for Commando use with an M60 handguard and a rear pistol grip. The weapon was powered by an electric cable hidden in the actors trousers and fired reduced power 7.62 blank rounds to ease the recoil force. It is believed in real life a similar weapon was tested by US special forces in the 1970s but found impractical(This statement is false, anyone with the least bit of knowledge about this weapon system would know that a soldier cannot fire a multi barreled 7.62mm machine gun). Although rumoured to be an XM214 'Microgun' which fires the smaller 5.56mm NATO rounds, It is the larger M134 hence the barrel cluster. The gun is operated in the movie also by Mac shortly after Blain's death. A second minigun can be briefly seen door-mounted on one of the Hueys that the commandos ride to their insertion point in the jungle.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
The MP5A3's are the mainstay weapons of the rest of the squad. Blain (Jesse Ventura), Poncho (Richard Cheves), Hawkins (Shane Black) and Dillon (Carl Weathers) all carry them. The weapons are distinguishable from i.e. their slightly curved buttstocks. What is notable, also, is that Poncho seems to be carrying two MP5A3's in addition to the six-shot grenade launcher. Quite a weight he's pulling (At no point in time is Poncho carrying 2 MP5's. Dillon is the only one seen pocessing 2 MP5's and that is when he has his arm blown off in the fight with the Predator.)
-- Correct. He carries an "MP5A3" plus his grenade launcher in his packpack. That was built using MP5A3 parts, explaining why an MP5A3 stock sticks out of his pack . . .
These "MP5A3's" are not factory MP5's, they are HK94 conversions. The HK94 is the carbine version (16" barrel, semi auto only) of the MP5 made for civilian sale in the 80's. Note the lack of paddle mag release, lugged barrel, and push pin trigger pack found on factory MP5's and NFA conversions. The picture directly below is a real MP5A3 it does resemble the guns in the movie but if you watch close enough you will see the differences.
M18A1 Claymore
The commandos can be seen using M18A1 Claymores several times in the film; first as part of the defense perimeter when camped out for the night after Blain is killed, then when Dutch orders the other commandos to make a stand against the Predator in the jungle.
The pistols
It can be easily spotted, that at least Dutch, Mac, Dillon and Billy carry handguns of unknown type in shoulder holsters. None of these are ever used, however Dillon's holster is different to the rest in the way that it is an old US army black leather pistol holster usually meant for the Colt M1911A1 pistol. Therefore it is logical to assume that at least Dillon was carrying a Colt with him. Look carefully at Billy's shoulderholster just before he finds the skinned Grenn Berets - the holstered pistol appears to be an IMI .44 Desert Eagle.
Also, the guerilla girl by the name of Anna (Elpidia Carrillo) can be seen pointing a pistol of some sort (possibly a Walther PP or PPK) towards Dutch at the end of the attack against the guerilla base.
Guerilla weapons
The jungle guerillas engaged by Dutch's commando team carry only a few sorts of firearms. Aside from the yet again unknown pistol used by a guerilla to execute the POW, AKM's are mostly seen. One type of light machine gun used by the guerillas is the Valmet M78/83. The M78 has an RPK style 'clubfoot' stock, whereas the M78/83 was the version of the Valmet Light Machinegun that came with a black synthetic "Dragunov style thumbhole stock" and was the variant used in Arnold's previous film Commando..
It is first seen when Mac and Blain are infiltrating the camp. Later on one can be seen in the middle of the guerilla base during the fighting. The weapon does resemble an RPK light machine gun a lot, but has a different muzzle brake, front sight assembly, and other structural differences to distinguish it from the the RPK.
Milkor MGL
A Milkor MGL with the sight removed and the front handgrip removed is used by Poncho. This weapon is first seen during the fight with the guerillas and is used exclusively by Poncho.
-- No. This weapon does only remotely resemble the Milkor MGL. It is a Frankenstein gun built from H&K MP5A3 parts (including the retractable stock and pistol grip) and an AN-M5 aircraft pyrotechnic discharger (a 37x122mmR flare launcher).
Additional weapons
Dutch can also be seen wearing a few M67 Grenades on his vest at the beginning. These grenades are also thrown around by the various commandoes during the raid to the guerilla base. Satchel charges are also used by Dutch to blow up a pickup truck after he manages to make it fall through a wall and right into a small gathering of the guerillas.
