Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1999)

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a 1998 film set in the early 1970's, directed by Terry Gilliam. It stars Benicio del Toro as Oscar Z. Acosta (with the alias in the film of Dr. Gonzo) along with Johnny Depp as Hunter S. Thompson (Playing under the pen name of Raoul Duke). It follows Duke and Gonzo as they travel through Las Vegas whilst under the influence of every hallucinogenic drug known to mankind. The film is based on (the real) Hunter S. Thompson's novel of the same name.

Smith and Wesson Model 19

The main gun seen in the film is a Smith & Wesson Model 19, referred to as a ".357" by Duke and Gonzo. It is only fired by Duke in the latter stages of the film. In the novel, the gun is a Colt Python Snub with a beveled cylinder.
