Izhmash SV-99
The SV-99 is a special purpose police sniper rifle for short-range encounters. It is intended for actions like the taking of lights, guard dogs, or precise and silent anti-personnel work. The .22LR cartridge offers low noise, low probability of ricochets, and good lethality, when fired into the lethal area of the body. The SV-99 is based on the BI-7 biathlon sporting rifle, and has the same very fast toggle-locking, straight pull bolt action, in which the bolt handle simply swings back and forward to reload and cock the rifle. The SV-99 features a wooden two part stock with detachable skeletonized shoulder stock, which could be removed for compact storage or replaced by a pistol grip for operation in confined places. The buttstock has an adjustable buttplate and a cheek rest; the bottom of the buttstock has compartments for spare magazines. The forend features a rail with an integral folding bipod. The SV-99 has no open sights; instead, it has a dovetailed mounting point on the receiver, which can accept quick-detachable scope mounts. The muzzle is threaded for a sound suppressor. It was invented in Russia.
