Alive in Joburg is the 2005 short which became the basis for the 2009 film District 9.

The following guns were used in the 2005 short "Alive In Joburg"

The two (apparently CG) soldiers who attack the bio-suited "Poleepkwa" use FN SCAR-Ls, with scopes and foregrips attached.

Unknown Rifle

Unused by the sniper (Sharlto Copley).

FAL (Or, Likely, R4)

Used by the Sniper (Sharlto Copely) on patrol.

Beretta 92FS

Constable Bongani Zulu uses one of these.

Type 56

A Poleepkwa is seen using a Type 56 to fire on police officers. One is also seen in the back of an apprehended vehicle.

Remington 870

Seen at the beginning of the film in the hands of a police officer.

Vektor R6

Bongani Zulu's partner uses this to fire on a Poleepkwa with an Type 56.

Uzi

A police officer is seen with a full-size Uzi.

It's hard to see, but the rear sights signify a full-size Uzi.

Toy Mini-Uzi

A child is seen with a toy Mini-Uzi.

How cute.

FN Minimi

Troops are seen with the FN Minimi.

On the left, the stock of an FN Minimi is seen
  • The shot is from archival footage of South African soldiers during the 1980s, so the stock is more likely that of a R4 rifle (Galil).
On the far left, it's a Minimi. You can tell. I think there's a shot that shows the backsights, and the pistol grip is more in line with a Minimi than an R4.

1911-style pistol, likely Star BS

Constable Zulu or his partner is seen with this stuck in the back of his pants while apprehending a Poleepkwa criminal.
