Carry On Sergeant is a 1958 comedy movie, the first of the long-running "Carry On" series. The film follows the training of a motley bunch of called-up recruits at their National Service depot. For the last intake prior to his retirement, Sgt. Grimshaw (William Hartnell) takes on a bet that he can produce his first ever champion platoon by altering his approach, from barking orders to kindly encouragement. The ensemble cast features Bob Monkhouse, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey, Shirley Eaton, Kenneth Connor, Bill Owen, Eric Barker, Terry Scott, and Cyril Chamberlain.
The following weapons were used in the film NorahBatty/Sandbox:
All of the National Service recruits use the Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I rifle, fitted with the Spike where appropriate for bayonet training.
Machine Gun
Bren Mk2 Light Machine Gun
The recruits are trained to field-strip and operate the Bren Gun. From the look of the flash hider, the lack of rear grip, and the reference to a flip-up back sight it is assumed that this is the Mk2 Bren Gun. The use of the curved magazine indicates .303 British calibre.
