Vladimir Valentinovich Menshov (September 17, 1939 - July 05, 2021) was a Soviet and Russian actor, film director, screenwriter, producer. He is best known for the 1979 film Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears (Moskva slezam ne verit) that won the 1981 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and also got the USSR State Prize. In 1989 Menshov was awarded the title of the People's Artist of Russia. Menshov passed away at age 81, due to complications from COVID-19.
