The Last Hard Men Andrew V. McLaglen and based on the novel by Brian Garfield (Hopscotch Death Wish Charlton Heston stars as Captain Sam Burgade, a retired Arizona Ranger, and James Coburn co-stars as Burgade's old enemy Zach Provo, who was sent to prison by Burgade, but manages to escape and now seeks revenge.

Sheriff Noel Nye (Michael Parks ), some deputies and several of Provo's men also carry Colt New Service revolvers.

Later these shotguns, taken from killed guards, are used by Zach Provo (James Coburn ) and his second-in-command Cesar Menendez (Jorge Rivero ).
