The Red and the White (original Hungarian title Csillagosok, katonák, Russian title Zvyozdy i soldaty; both titles literally mean "Stars and soldiers") is a 1967 Hungarian-Soviet war drama directed by Miklós Jancsó. The story is set during the Russian Civil war. Several Hungarian volunteers, former Austro-Hungarian soldiers who were in Russian captivity, join Red Army and fight against the Whites. In 1919 an international Red detachment is defeated in battle. Victorious Whites mercilessly execute prisoners. Several men, including Hungarians András and Laszlo, try to hide in Whites field hospital. At the very edge of death, the escapees are saved by appeared Red troops and join them in a new attack.

Nagant M1895

Nagant M1895 revolvers are widely used throughout the movie, notably by White officers Shtabs-Captain (a "sub-Captain" rank) Nikolay Fyodorovich Chelpanov (Anatoli Yabbarov), Praporshchik (Ensign rank) Glazunov (Nikita Mikhalkov) and unnamed Cossack Podkhorunzhiy (Warrant officer rank) (Sergey Nikonenko) and Army Podporuchik (2nd Lt. rank) (Vladimir Prokofyev).
