The Shootist
John Wayne's last movie, in which he plays a gunfighter who is dying of cancer. The following guns can be seen in The Shootist:
Colt Single Action Army
Used by several characters in the film
Remington 1866 Derringer
John Wayne carries one of these small pistols hidden, and uses it at the beginning of the movie
Great Western
These Single Action Army Replicas, made in the 50's, were the revolvers used by John Wayne in the film. These were a set of 2 engraved revolvers presented to him by the defunct Great Western company.
According to the well known gunwriter ,John Taffin, the revolver that is thrown through the Saloon by Ron Howard, is not one of the Great Westerns, but a movie prop, made using a Ruger Blackhawk, modified to look like a SAA. http://www.shootmagazine.com/articles/firearms/great_western.htm
Winchester Model 1892
Wayne carries one of these rifles, with a large loop lever, just like the one he used in other films like True Grit, but he doesn't shoot it, and we never see it closely
"Coach" shotgun
A double, short barreled shotgun, used to kill Wayne in the movie
Unidentified Smith and Wesson revolver
The gun is never seen closely. It might be a S&W American, Schofield or Russian.
