This Means War is a 2012 American romantic action-comedy directed by McG and starring Chris Pine , Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon . The plot involves two CIA agents and best friends inadvertently begin dating the same woman and use their CIA skills and resources to both one-up and sabotage the other.
