Talk:Tom Clancy's EndWar
I haven't got the game (I DL'ed the demo of PSN, but it turns out I suck at modern/future RTS war games), but I'm gonna try and do a bit of house-cleaning of the page. I also used the game website as a source for a couple of new weapons I added to the article. [1] Please note that I wasn't sure if I should classify the M268 6.8mm minigun as either an M134 or an XM214. Spartan198 19:54, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- And I went by this screenshot ([2]) when determining which version of the SCAR was used. And note the M268 minigun used by the automatic rifleman (would he still be an "automatic rifleman" with a weapon like that?) in the background. Spartan198 20:05, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
The way I look at it, the M268 isn't an M134 nor an XM214. Neither one of those weapons is chambered for a 6.8MM round and has only three barrels. The M134 and XM214 both have six barrels. It can't even be argued that three of the barrels were removed similar to the M197 being a three barreled version of the M61 Vulcan, because the barrel cluster on the M268 is too tight to fit another three barrels. The weapon is a purely fictional Gatling gun, inspired by the hand held Minigun seen in films like Predator and apparently the M56 Smart Gun from Aliens.
AN-94
ok the gun used by the russian spetnaz looks more like the AN-94 then the AEK-971
It's an AK-74M with a modified muzzle break. The game lore says so and close inspection will reveal that it most resembles an AK in game. ok thanks i could not figer out what it was --Armyguy277 13:30, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Page
The following weapons can be seen in the video game EndWar:
Assault Rifles
FN SCAR-H
The SCAR-H chambered in 6.8x43mm appears as the "SCAR A1" and is the standard combat rifle of JSF troops. The design of it is a hybrid with the trigger unit of the prototype 1st gen model while the rest of the design is the production 3rd gen model. A similar hybrid model later appeared in Splinter Cell: Conviction. The in-game SCAR is not produced by Fabrique Nationale de Herstal, because US officials declared it to be a different design with its own patent and handed the contracts to American manufacturers. It was previously claimed on the game website that JSF Engineers used a compact carbine version called the "SCAR A1C", but in-game they instead use the standard model.
Heckler & Koch XM8
The Heckler & Koch XM8 was intended to be used by US JSF soldiers and appeared in various pieces of concept art and one of the trailers, but was replaced in gameplay by the FN SCAR-H because the developers felt it was overused. [3]. It still appears in the game via cutscenes such as the JSF faction's victory cutscene, however.
FN F2000
The FN F2000 chambered in a new 7mm NATO round is one of the standard weapons of the Enforcers Corps, called the "E3000 carbine" and also mounts a GL1 EGLM grenade launcher in-game.
AK-74M
The AK-74M is the standard assault rifle for the Spetznaz Brigade. It is equipped with some sort of scope and can be upgraded with a GP series grenade launcher. The use of such a small round (5.45mm) is an exclusion from the Russian tendency to use superior firepower in-game. You would expect them to use 7.62mm (compare to US' 6.8mm and EF's 7mm), since they use dual 57mm cannons on IFVs, 152mm cannons on tanks and not one but two guns on their artillery, et cetera.
AKS-74
The AKS-74 is issued to regular, AI controlled Russian Army forces.
M16A4
The M16A4 is issued to regular, AI controlled US Army forces. Equipped with an M203 grenade launcher.
FAMAS
The FAMAS is issued to regular, AI controlled EU Army forces. Called the "FMS AG2" and is also said to be chambered for the 7mm round.
OTs-14-4A
The OTs-14-4A bullpup rifle issued to "Forgotten Army" terrorist forces in "Prelude to War" chapter. It is equipped with an unknown scope and a grenade launcher
Sniper Rifles
KSVK Sniper Rifle
One of the Russian rifleman upgrades features a sniper who appears to use a KSVK sniper rifle as his weapon.
Barrett M107
The Barrett M107's direct descendant, the "M120", is used by US snipers. While the exact differences between the M120 and the M107 are unknown, both rifles are virtually identical in appearance.
Denel NTW-20
The European Federation Enforcer Corps rifle looks like a Denel NTW-20. Its penetration is inferior to the US rifle, so it is not the real Denel (which is at least 14.5).
Machine Guns
Hand-Held Minigun
A hand-held (although used by troops wearing powered exoskeletons) self-powered Gatling gun chambered in 6.8x43mm, known in-game as the M268 SAW, is used in the squad support role by JSF forces.
M240 Machine Gun
An M240 Machine Gun is seen on top of the American force recon M1A1 tanks.
Browning M2HB
The Browning M2HB is seen on top of American force recon Fast Attack Vehicles and tanks.
NSV Machine Gun
The NSV heavy machine gun is mounted on top of Russian Spetsnaz tanks.
DShK heavy machine gun
A DShK heavy machine gun is mounted on top of Russian Spetsnaz FAS attack vehicles.
MG3
The MG3 is mounted on top of European Enforcer Corps tanks.
Launchers
RPG-7
The RPG-7 is the substitute weapon for Russian engineers. It looks like it is equipped with a futuristic warhead.
FGM-148 Javelin
An anti-tank rocket launcher resembling the FGM-148 Javelin is used as the AT5CQ.
"Milana-2"
The "Milana-2" is used by EURO grenadiers.
XM307
A XM307 ACSW is mounted on top of European Enforcer Corps fast attack vehicles.
Article resurrected
I inadvertently resurrected yet another article, so please excuse me, since I'm still new here and obviously had no idea certain articles had been created and deleted. I'm seeing quite a bit of work was done on this one and yet it was stil deleted, so I'll just leave it for the others to decide. I tried to identify most of the common weapons in the game and provide clear screenshots for comparison.--Ssantusky (talk) 21:32, 4 October 2017 (EDT)
- Some work was done, but it was left incomplete for several years. Like a blighted house, it had to go. --Funkychinaman (talk) 22:10, 4 October 2017 (EDT)
Alright then, I'll work on it and try to get it completed as much as possible. I'll use the previous revisions as reference.--Ssantusky (talk) 22:26, 4 October 2017 (EDT)
- As much as possible but still incomplete? I hope not. --Funkychinaman (talk) 23:28, 4 October 2017 (EDT)
I've finished it. I left out the vehicle machine guns and other types of vehicle weapons for the time being, but I don't think they're that necessary. For all intents and purposes the article is complete, as most common and iconic firearms in the game are identified with clear screenshots and comparisons.--Ssantusky (talk) 09:03, 5 October 2017 (EDT)
