Talk:Serpico

The article refers the gunshop where Serpico buys his Hi-Power as being famous. I haven't heard of it before, is it famous for being a New York City landmark or for appearing in other films? Or is it famous because of its appearance in this film?

Personally I would think owning and operating a gunshop in New York City would be a difficult experience at best. But they are still in business so there must be customers - even in big old liberal, anti-gun New York City. --Jcordell 15:41, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

I've been to John Jovino before (most recently in 2018), before it sadly closed down in 2020. It was the last remaining gun store in NYC; as far as I know, there are no others now. The store location that appears in this movie is actually the old location; when I visited, they were in a different space, and the old location was being used as an office space and as a warehouse for the guns and ammunition sold through the newer storefront. When I went in, I asked why it looked so different from how it looks in this movie - that's the answer I was given from the guy at the counter. -MT2008 (talk) 15:28, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

Sterling Arms Model 302

Page for Sterling Model 302 says that Serpico uses this gun at some point in the movie, yet there are no section for it. Maybe it's a mistake and someone just misidentified it with Smith & Wesson Escort (both guns were in Taxi Driver)? --Kloga (talk) 18:38, 14 December 2013 (EST)

the Browning

It appears to be a BHP in most of the movie, but are we sure it’s a Browning in the scene where he actually buys it at the gun store? In the salesman’s hand, it almost looks more like a Smith & Wesson 52. -MT2008 (talk) 21:53, 29 December 2017 (EST)

Don't think so, what make you say that? To me, in the image where it is in the salesman's hand shows that it has that pin through the middle of the serrations, and single grip screw in the middle of the back edge, and a frame mounted safety, all of which make it a HP rather than a S&W 52. --commando552 (talk) 06:38, 30 December 2017 (EST)
