Additional Weapons

Barrett M82A1

An unfinished Barrett M82A1 appears in the game files (it is only accessible through modding of the kit files).

It can only be fired when on a vehicle or while prone (although it has no firing sound).

Discussion

Battlefield 2: Special Forces

Seeing as Battlefield 2: Special Forces works seperately from Battlefield 2 with its own factions and kits, should it have separate article too? Or mix together (smoke grenades from BF2, tear gas from SF, etc.)?

Yeah, I think the weapons from the Special Forces expansion pack should be included in this entry. The weapons are definitely unique enough, though probably not the gameplay modes.--Mazryonh 04:18, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
I just ordered BF2: SF off of Amazon, and plan to add the content from it as soon as I can. Orca1 9904 20:04, 14 March 2011 (CDT)

Weapon listings from popular mods for BF2?

I think this game's popular mods have been unfairly ignored in this wiki. While certainly this game doesn't have quite the fan following like Counter-Strike does, I think some of BF2's more popular mods deserve an entry. One of these is "Project Reality," a mod that tries its damnedest to incorporate more realistic gameplay elements and armaments for the various factions, and has already added quite a few nation-specific armies as factions to their mod, such as the Canadian Forces, the Russian Army, the Israeli Defence Force, etc. Version 0.9 of the mod was recently released and can be gotten here.--Mazryonh 05:10, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

I'll download this mod when it comes out and will work on adding the weapons for it, as it looks like it has some unique weapons not mentioned in the main BF2 article, including the Galil, Tavor-series bullpups, Colt Canada C7A2, and a few others. Orca1 9904 05:18, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
I'd certainly appreciate your efforts, but I was also wondering whether or not Project Reality deserves its own page much like Insurgency, a mod for Counter-Strike, already has one of its own. The gameplay is certainly quite different, and you can get an idea of just how different it is by reading the new manual for the 0.9 version. --Mazryonh 16:33, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
I believe that a enormous mod like Project Reality deserve its own page in IMFDB, maybe with a link to the original game's page. Lone Soldier 10:14 10/02/2010
I agree, if Insurgency has its own article then Project Reality most certainly deserves its own too. --Masterius 06:38, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

As a notorious PR player I can only support this ;) 88.69.255.177

I think it would be a good idea to give PR its own page, or its own section at the very least. It seems to clutter the battlefield 2 page and gives false impressions of whats in the game and what isnt. Though, it does remind me that I need to get the next version of PR... 5t3v0

I have started work on a separate page for PR, and am transferring content relevant to that mod to the new page. Orca1 9904 12:42, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Please do. It was about time. The mod is a great piece of work and really deserves its own entry with information on firing modes, magazine capacities, etc. for each weapon. I wonder if a professional developer would ever have the balls, time, and money to make a game like this nowadays . . . --Mazryonh 22:23, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
The page is up, just need to add screenshots to some of the weapons. I personally think PR is superior to BF2 in some respects, such as authenticity on uniforms of some of the classes carried over from BF2 (such as the USMC & PLA), and the more detailed weapon models (compare the BF2 M4A1 to its' PR counterpart, for example). I also heard that they're coming out with a sequel and a version focusing on Vietnam. Orca1 9904 22:51, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

BF2:SF guns in game

there is no pictures of the g36k/scar-h/flashbang/teargas/rpg7 in the actual game which patch/mod did you use for unlocks in singleplayer

I was only able to add the basic weapons from the game (and the Euro Force & Armored Fury content when v1.50 added it to the main game), but as I stated above, I have just recently purchased the Special Forces expansion pack and will be adding content from it as soon as I get it. MG36E

Wasn't the MG36E an MG36 with simplified sight? I might be wrong, but according to the G36 page, any MG36 with "C" carrying handle should be ID'd and called a G36. - bozitojugg3rn4ut 14:05, 30 March 2012 (CDT)

SVD

Someone added a paragraph to the SVD section, claiming the SVD doesn't kill in one headshot. The SVD does kill in one headshot, as do even most of the assault rifles. This is evidenced by data taken from the game's files, and can be made clear by playing through the game. It further claimed this put the "Russian team" at a disadvantage, however, the MEC is the rifle's primary user and Russia is barely present in this game. I also removed a part commenting on how DICE believes semi-auto rifles compare to bolt-actions, if only because it is purely speculative and also irrelevant.

Deleted Image

So, in my attempts at slightly cleaning up this page, I stumbled upon this beauty:

BGM-71 TOW mounted on Humvee - 152mm

This was locked to the right side of the page, and I, being the Wikitext amateur that I am, had absolutely no idea how to fix this. Therefore, I decided to remove it from the page and put it here for somebody who actually knows how to use Wikitext to deal with (although, as I write this, I start to think that I actually know how to deal with the issue- hang on a second...)

On one hand, I feel accomplished because I figured out how to do that, but on the other hand, I feel stupid for not figuring out that you can align a picture to the left instead of the right by replacing "right" in the file text with "left". Given how the latter is far, far more prominent, I think I'm going to go drink bleach now. Cheers! Pyr0m4n14c (talk) 17:10, 6 January 2017 (EST)

I set it to "none". --Funkychinaman (talk) 17:36, 6 January 2017 (EST)
Just to clarify, we basically never use the "left" alignment on this site, only the "none" or "right". "Right" is used on gun and actor pages where you want the images down the side of the page next to tables and text, whereas the "none" is used on media pages where where nothing is next to the images. If you were to use left you would end up with the image on the left of the text (or have to do extra breaks and editing to get it to look right) which is not how we format anything. --commando552 (talk) 05:33, 7 January 2017 (EST)
