LSAT
The LSAT (Lightweight Small Arms Technologies) program is funded by the U.S. Joint Service Small Arms Program, and is the successor to the cancelled OICW development spirals and the Heckler & Koch XM8. The main objectives of the program are to reduce the weight of weapons and ammunition carried by soldiers by 35 percent, improve ergonomics and logistics, and reduce training and maintenance time.
The program consists of a light machine gun and an assault rifle.
