Dersu Uzala (rus. Дерсу Узала) is a 1961 Soviet film, directed by Agasi Babayan. This is the first adapted of memoirs of Vladimir Arsenyev, the Russian explorer of the Far East, the second is Dersu Uzala (1975). Dersu Uzala, the native hunter and pathfinder, was a guide for Arsenyev's expeditions in 1902-1907, and they became close friends.
