World IMFDB Exclusive: Screen used Faux M203 Launcher with M16A1 with Quadrant and Front ladder sight - 5.56x45mm. This is verified screen used from the film Scarface. Two 30 round magazines have been taped together with black gaffer's tape to emulate the way Tony Montana loaded his weapon in the film. What is interesting is that the tape in the movie does really appear to be motion picture gaffer's tape, which would only be common on ... a movie set.

M203A2

That is not an M203A2. The A2 mounts to the barrel just like both earlier 203s. The only difference between the A2 and the original 203 is the QD barrel clamp originally introduced with the A1. See for yourselves - [1] [2] Spartan198 20:56, 7 November 2011 (CST)

RIS M203

Is there a real M203 that uses this style RIS mount, or is it an airsoft only thing? [3][4] Alex T Snow 20:30, 30 November 2011 (CST)

No, that mount is airsoft-exclusive. Such a system likely wouldn't securely hold a real steel 203 in place for very long once firing commenced. Spartan198 21:06, 30 November 2011 (CST)
Okay, thanks :) Alex T Snow 21:55, 1 December 2011 (CST)

Fake M-203s

Is it proper to include movies like Scarface or Heartbreak Ridge here since it is pretty well known/acknowledged the launchers in them were faux-203s? Not nitpicking...just wondering. --Charon68 20:00, 11 March 2012 (CDT)

I think they're only included here since that specific faux launcher doesn't have its own page. The Cobray launcher has its own page. Spartan198 23:05, 11 March 2012 (CDT)

M203PI info needed

I've been going through a few of the M203 entries and correcting some of them to RM Equipment M203PIs, which show up a lot more than I would have guessed. However I have come across a standalone version which is annoying me. I first saw it on the Terminator Salvation page where I assumed that it had a plastic shell over the top of another stock, however i have since found the exact same stock in The Rock and the 2003 The Italian Job, so I decided this was not the case. After much searching I came across this graphic which shows the launcher, but it is a crappy MS paint tracing from an Airsoft site with no info or a real photo. Does anyone know anything about this? The launcher is definitely an M203PI, but is the stock made by another company or is it a now discontinued RM Equipment one?

On the topic of the M203PI, does anyone know if RM equipment made an M4 interbar which wasn't a SOLA? This launcher from Universal Soldier: The Return is an M203PI but the interbar is different from the SOLA. It is similar but does not wrap around the mag well, looking like it is attaches more in the fashion of a normal M203. If anyone could provide info about any of this that would be great, as the RM Equipment website is pretty lacking. --commando552 (talk) 17:49, 4 March 2013 (EST)

I left a comment on the Universal Soldier talk page a few years back, but no one ever seemed to notice. The launchers used in it would appear to be Diemaco M203A1s. Spartan198 (talk) 16:24, 14 October 2013 (EDT)

Do you mean the Universal Soldier: The Return page? If so I think it is an M203PI. If you compare the image from the movie to this one you will see several differences. The mounting system of an M203A1 on a carbine is different (M203 A1 mount requires the bottom handguard to be removed and at the front it clamps further up the barrel rather than around the bayonet lug), but you can also see that the weapon itself is different. On the M203PI there is a groove that runs all the way along the right side of the frame above the barrel which is also present on the movie gun, on the M203A1 there isn't. --commando552 (talk) 18:26, 14 October 2013 (EDT)

Some questions on the M203P1?

Surprisingly, typing "M203P1" or "M203P1 Grenade Launcher" in Google yields almost no results of interest. Could someone provide some information regarding the M203P1, so atleast one page on the whole internet does so. I was really wondering when the M203P1 was first designed and produced, and first used in service?

Then i have not been able to find a info on what weapons it can be used on. Are there are requirements, or does the weapons have to be modified? Or does it work on every NATO-Standard rifle? I know it can be attached to AUG's and FAL's, but what about other rifles like the FN FNC, CETME Model L, Galil, L85A1, SIG SG 540/542 or the Valmet Series?

Thanks in Advance. Z008MJ (talk) 20:17, 28 February 2014 (EST)

I think the main problem is that is isn't called the "M203P1", but the "M203PI" with PI standing for "Product Improved". Here is the page from the manufaturer RM Equipment. There are 2 versions of the M203PI, one that requires an adapter known as an interbar, and the other which can be fitted to any MIL-STD-1913 rail. The only interbars shown on the RM Equipment site are for M16s, M4s, AKs, H&K G3s and Styr AUGs however this is only a sampling and there are (or were) a lot more available. For example, there is definitely an interbar to mount one to an MP5 as seen in End of Days, however I have never seen a proper list anywhere. --commando552 (talk) 06:12, 1 March 2014 (EST)

That makes a lot of sense, i must have been a bit hasty there, as US designations usually names updated versions of weapons with a letter followed by a number. My bad, sorry. I still don't know when it was first produced though, do you have any idea? Did it exist before the Picatinny rail? Also, i'd like to know what is required to mount one on a non-rail fitted weapon. If i can mount it on a FN FAL, can i mount it on a FN FNC? It it works on a G3A3, does work on a PSG-1? And what constitutes as "AKs"? Galils? Valmets? Dragunovs?

I very much appreciate whatever information you can share, even guesses. Z008MJ (talk) 08:26, 1 March 2014 (EST)

The "A1" upgrade system was originally a military system, with many firms simply adopting it for their civilian products. And the M203PI isn't actually used by the US military. Spartan198 (talk) 20:11, 30 May 2014 (EDT)
