S.W.A.T. (1975 - 1976)

While Los Angeles already had such a unit in its police department, the series, which aired on ABC for two seasons from 1975 to 1976, helped popularize the idea of "Special Weapons and Tactics" to the general public. The series would be adapted as a feature film in 2003.
