"The two guns were ordered specifically for the show by Michael Mann's production company. They did not come off the assembly line, but were built by Tom Dornaus personally. Tom did the initial blank conversion, if you want to call it that, but actually these two guns were built from the ground up specifically for firing blanks. He used major components which were not deemed suitable for production guns, but were perfectly adequate for a blank gun. The two guns were Standard Models with the old style rear sight assembly and no trigger stop screw. All external markings were standard Bren Ten. The only difference being that the guns had recoil springs and barrels designed to fire .45 ACP blanks. The barrel does not carry any caliber designation roll mark however. Because the ejection port on a Bren Ten is so large I don't believe that it had to be enlarged to accommodate the elongated .45 ACP blank cases. (Remember that the blank cases are in the shape of a loaded round WITH bullet seated.) Michael Mann requested specifically that the slides be a light color (hard chrome) for enhanced visibility. The hard chrome work was done by a small firm in the Huntington Beach area at that time. Both guns carry a special serial number. One of the guns is in the possession of a major collector in Pennsylvania and the other is owned by one of the show's producers, I believe. They weren't Marksmans or Standard Models with conversion kits. They were two specially built guns". from http://www.bren-ten.com/website/id5.html | "The two guns were ordered specifically for the show by Michael Mann's production company. Used by Clem ([[Al Cox]]) in "Glades", referred to as a "Gator-Getter". After it misfires several times, he finally kills a Colombian who was about to kill Crockett. The flared muzzle, though often depicted as allowing the gun to be stuffed full of random junk, was actually to make pouring powder easier; firing random objects would damage the barrel. | Used by Clem ([[Al Cox]]) in "Glades", referred to as a "Gator-Getter". Revision as of 07:07, 19 January 2016
The following weapons were used in Season 1 of the television series Miami Vice:
Handguns
SIG-Sauer P220
Det. Sgt. James "Sonny" Crockett (Don Johnson) uses a SIG-Sauer P220 in the pilot episode of the show. Considering that the pilot episode was filmed in the spring of 1984 the model used would most likely have been the European model with the heel-clip magazine release.
Detonics Pocket 9
Crockett carries the Detonics Pocket 9 in his rear waistband near the small of his back as a back up pistol to Sonny Crockett's SIG-Sauer P220 in "Pilot" (S1E01).
Dornaus & Dixon Bren Ten
Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) uses a Bren Ten in the first season of the show. It was essentially a beefed-up CZ 75 chambered for the original 10mm Norma Auto cartridge which differs slightly in case length from later 10mm rounds. This round was HOT, and consequently damaged the guns. In the '80s this was a new cartridge, but is rarely used in modern day. The company of Dornaus & Dixon was an ill-fated one, and since the producers of the Miami Vice-series would not use discontinued guns, it was replaced with the Smith & Wesson 645 auto pistol.
They were two specially built guns". from http://www.bren-ten.com/website/id5.html
Detonics Combatmaster
Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) carries a Detonics Combatmaster as a backup gun, in an ankle holster. In reality the Detonics would have been a substantial handgun to carry in an ankle holster. One of the court officer's uses a Combatmaster during Leon's arraignment in the pilot episode. A drug dealer in "Milk Run" also uses a Combatmaster.
Browning Hi-Power
Det. Stan Switek (Michael Talbott) carries a nickel Browning Hi-Power with target sights as his sidearm throughout the season.
Smith & Wesson 659
Det. Larry Zito (John Diehl) carries a Smith & Wesson 659 as his sidearm.
Colt Challenger
Trini DeSoto (Martin Ferrero) uses a Colt Challenger with a suppressor to kill Leon (Mykelti Williamson) in the pilot episode. Thanks to Veritas for identifying this one.
Revolvers
Colt Python
In "The Maze", Lt. Jack Davis (Joe Morton) is seen carrying a Colt Python in his holster, as noted by it's Colt grips. Most of the SRT members in "The Maze" carry either Colt Pythons or Colt Commanders.
Dan Wesson Model 15-VH
Trini DeSoto (Martin Ferrero), disguised in drag, uses a stainless Dan Wesson Model 15-VH to attempt to kill Tubbs in the pilot episode, which he subsequently uses to fire at Crockett and other police officers. Martin Ferrero plays a recurring character Izzy Moreno throughout the rest of the series.
Dan Wesson Model 15
A police officer is seen with his Dan Wesson Model 15 drawn when checking to see if DeSoto is dead, after being shot by Tubbs. The officer's gun has a ribbed barrel.
Smith & Wesson Model 29
During Leon's arraignment in the pilot episode, one court officer points a blued Smith & Wesson Model 29 at Leon, in the mock scenario to exercise their "right to bear arms". Jerry Carrow (Jimmie Ray Weeks) uses an S&W 29 to kill Vincent DeMarco in "One Eyed Jack".
Another court officer in the pilot episode points a nickel S&W 29 at Leon. In "Calderone's Demise", when they are getting ready to face Calderone, Tubbs asks Crockett for a nickel S&W 29, to which Crockett responds "We're not going after an elephant Tubbs" before handing it to him. Lt. Castillo (Edward James Olmos) carries a nickel S&W 29 during the opening scene in "No Exit". Billie Joe Higgins (Jay Patterson) holds a nickel S&W 29 on Crockett and Tubbs in "Glades".
Smith & Wesson Model 19
Jerry (David Patrick Kelly), one of the home invaders, uses a Smith & Wesson Model 19 with a bo-mar rib in "The Home Invaders".
Smith & Wesson Model 19 (Nickel Snub)
Detective Tim Duryea (Jay O. Sanders) uses a nickel Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub nose in "The Maze".
Smith & Wesson Model 10 HB
A police officer uses a heavy barreled Smith & Wesson Model 10 in "The Hit List". This indicates that it is most likely the standard issue sidearm for the Metro-Dade Police Department.
Smith & Wesson Model 38 "Bodyguard"
A J-frame Smith & Wesson Model 38 "Bodyguard" revolver, fitted with Pachmayr grips, is carried by Det. Ricardo Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) throughout the season.
Smith & Wesson Model 36 "Chief's Special"
A J-frame Smith & Wesson Model 36 "Chief's Special with the square butt configuration is seen on the bed in Tubbs' hotel room in the pilot episode. Det. Gina Calabrese (Saundra Santiago) also uses this as her sidearm throughout the season, as well as Det. Trudy Joplin (Olivia Brown). An S&W 36 is also used by David Traynor (John Turturro) during the climax of "Rites of Passage".
Smith & Wesson Model 40
Evan (William Russ) holds a nickel Smith & Wesson Model 40 on Crockett in "Evan".
Smith & Wesson Model 586
Lt. Castillo (Edward James Olmos) uses a Smith & Wesson Model 586 in "Lombard".

12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotguns are used by several of Bramlette's men in "Glades".
Franchi SPAS-12
Two of Calderone's henchmen are seen holding Franchi SPAS-12s during the climax of the pilot episode before they are held at gunpoint by Crockett and Tubbs. A nickel plated SPAS-12 is used by a hired killer Ludovici Armstrong (Jim Zubiena) in the episode "The Hit List". Jaime Escobar also uses a nickel plated SPAS-12 in "The Maze". It is likely that the same nickel plated shotgun is used in both episodes.
Mossberg 500
Many Metro-Dade police officers, Vice detectives, and SRT members use Mossberg 500s in "Cool Runnin", "The Hit List", "The Maze" and "Evan", always with wooden furniture. Tubbs briefly takes one from an officer when searching of Ludovici Armstrong (Jim Zubiena) in "The Hit List". The judge in the pilot episode uses a Mossberg 500 Mariner during the mock scenario at the courthouse before Leon's arraignment.
Remington 870

Blunderbuss Flintlock
Used by Clem (Al Cox) in "Glades", referred to as a "Gator-Getter". After it misfires several times, he finally kills a Colombian who was about to kill Crockett. The flared muzzle, though often depicted as allowing the gun to be stuffed full of random junk, was actually to make pouring powder easier; firing random objects would damage the barrel.
High Standard Model 10
Xavier uses a High Standard Model 10 in "The Maze". This is a Model 10 "B" version, the "A" had a built in flashlight. This model had a removable one. One of the assassins also uses one in "Lombard".
Submachine Guns
Interdynamic KG-99

Calderone's driver uses a MAC-10 with a muzzle brake in the pilot episode. Ramone (Coati Mundi) also uses a MAC-10 in the beginning of "No Exit". One of Bramlette's men is seen with a MAC-10 in "Glades". Elio Escobar uses a MAC-10 in "The Maze". A MAC-10 is also used by Evan (William Russ) in "Evan", as the episode revolves around the illegal sale of them. Two of Calderone's henchmen use them during the car chase with Crockett and Tubbs in "Calderone's Demise".
Beretta PM12S SMG
The Beretta PM12S submachine gun is featured in the episode "Heart of Darkness" during the climax.

Later in the episode, Crockett knocks an HK94 out of a henchman's hand and uses it to kill Calderone. Ramone (Coati Mundi) uses an HK94 in the climax of "No Exit". Tubbs uses an HK94 when he, Crockett, and Jimmy encounter drug dealers as they prepare to leave Colombia in "Smuggler's Blues". Raoul Escobar uses an HK94 to fire at police in "The Maze". All the HK94s in the season are chopped and converted to look like MP5A3s.
IMI Uzi
A Colombian thug uses an IMI Uzi in "Smuggler's Blues".
Rifles
Replica XM177 (CAR-15)

An SRT member carries a Ruger AC556 with a full stock in "The Maze".
M16A1
Joey Bramlette (Keith Szarabajka) and his men use M16A1s in "Glades". The often switch to regular M16s in continuity error. Several SRT members use M16A1s in "The Maze". Trudy (Olivia Brown) is seen holding an M16A1 when escorting Albert Lombard (Dennis Farina) to the courthouse in "Lombard".
M16
Bramlette (Keith Szarabajka) and one of his men use original, bolt assist-less M16s with M16A1 flash Hiders in "Glades". The M16s switch with the M16A1s because of Continuity errors. Several SRT members in "The Maze" also use M16s.
Steyr-Mannlicher Sporter

Taser weapon
An early Taser weapon can be seen in Cool Runnin used by Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas).
