Dead Reckoning is a 1947 film about Capt. 'Rip' Murdock (Humphrey Bogart) a GI paratrooper who trails his AWOL war buddy southern town of Gulf City populated by gamblers, goons, pug cops, and the femme fatale Lizabeth Scott. When he arrives he discovers his buddy Sgt. Johnny Drake has been murdered and starts the quest to find out who did it and why.
