Sergeant York is a 1941 movie about life of Sergeant Alvin York from 1915 to 1919. Gary Cooper plays Alvin York as his life struggles between religious convictions and patriotism. York is a simple back woods fram boy from Kentucky when he is thrown into the First World War. Taking the bull by the horns he leads his men during a battle in which he captures a 132 German soldiers during the Battle of Argonne. He is then awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Argonne.
