:AA guns WERE used for direct fire, the problem was just that it was rather difficult to hit an airplane directly, this is why altitude fuzes/timed fuzes were introduced. AA guns WERE used for direct fire, the problem was just that it was rather difficult to hit an airplane directly, this is why altitude fuzes/timed fuzes were introduced. But the primary goal is to hit the plane directly.--Hchris (talk) 13:24, 3 March 2015 (EST)
