Ride with the Devil (1999) was directed by Ang Lee and starred Tobey Maguire, Skeet Ulrich, Jewel, Jeffrey Wright, Simon Baker, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and James Caviezel. The film depicts the border wars between the Kansas Jayhawks and Missouri Bushwhackers during the U.S. Civil War.

The brass-framed Remington Model 1858 is used by several Confederates including Jake Roedel (Tobey Maguire). Confederate forces were often used this version of the pistol during the war.
