M91
The M91 is an unofficial designation for a series of machine pistols that first began appearing in movies and television series filmed in British Columbia, Canada during the early-1990s. The M91 was designed from the ground up as a blank-firing weapon by a local gunsmith in Vancouver in 1991 (hence the "91" in its name); it was never intended nor designed to fire live ammunition. The M91 did not enter widespread production, and the designer quickly went out of business. The prototype weapons were sold to the Vancouver-based armory Felcan Enterprises, which re-purposed them for use in local productions. Since 1993, the M91 series have turned up repeatedly in movies and television shows produced in British Columbia. The weapons were never given a name, but are informally known as "M91".
This particular custom made weapon is seen in two versions: M91S and M91R.

M91S (Square)
There are two versions of the M91: The M91S has a blocky upper receiver design, while the M91R has a cylindrical upper receiver. Both versions of the M91 use the same basic lower receiver design, feed from Uzi magazines, fire 9mm P.A.K. blanks, and are fitted with FN FAL pistol grips. Aside from the magazines and pistol grips, all other components and parts of the M91 series are proprietary designs - even the springs were built from scratch.
This Custom Machine Pistol is an unusual submachine gun-style weapon that was a part of the firearms inventory of Felcan Enterprises in British Columbia. According to recently discovered information, this weapon was scratch made by a gunsmith in Vancouver and subsequently found its way into Felcan's inventory.  This weapon is known as the "M91S", referring to the "Square" Version of the pistol and 1991, the year the weapon was created.  One of the earliest appearances of this weapon in any media appears to be in the pilot episode of the syndicated TV series Cobra in September of 1993, and subsequently in a Season 2 episode of the television adaptation of Highlander and the The X-Files Season 1 episode "Fallen Angel", both of which also debuted late in 1993. The weapon's earliest feature film appearance appears to be in 1994's Timecop, where two were seen fitted with laser sights and barrel shrouds. Timecop was filmed in British Columbia, Canada, and these custom firearms would subsequently appear in other films and television series produced in the same region during the 1990s, including the film Rumble in the Bronx and series such as M.A.N.T.I.S. and Viper.

Also according to recently discovered information, this weapon has FN FAL pistol grips and utilizes modified 9mm Uzi magazines and mag releases. Besides that, everything else about the weapons is scratch-made (even the springs).

It has two sub-variations - a long-barreled version with an elongated receiver end that comes standard with a flash hider, and a short-barreled version with no front sight and a threaded barrel. The short-barreled version of the M91S is best known for its appearance in the 1994 film Timecop. In some film and television appearances, the short-barreled version of the M91S is fitted with muzzle attachments such as MAC-10-style barrel shrouds or custom muzzle breaks; it has also been seen fitted with laser sights.

Since 1993, the M91 series have turned up repeatedly in movies and television shows produced in British Columbia. The weapons were never given a name, but are informally known as "M91".

The M91 series machine pistols have appeared in the following films and television series:

M91S

The M91S ("S" for "square") has a blocky upper receiver design, and fires from an open bolt.
