It should be noted that no sniper variants of the M1917 were used by American snipers, the majority being M1903A4 rifles. Revision as of 18:03, 20 August 2014
|
The following weapons appear in the video game Sniper Elite III:
Handguns
Colt M1911A1
The American Colt M1911A1 is available with Patriot's Weapon DLC Pack. Described as having a high fire rate, the M1911 lacks a suppressor, but still maintains some power.
High Standard HDM
The American High Standard HDM can be added to the game with the Camo Weapons DLC pack, labeled as the Semi Auto HDM. It is the only suppressed semi automatic pistol in the game.
Luger P08 Parabellum
The German Luger P08 Parabellum is obtained fairly early in the game. It has the fastest rate of fire in the game. It's mainly found throughout the campaign in the hands of many Italian and German officers.
Smith & Wesson M1917
The American Smith & Wesson M1917 can be downloaded with the Hunter DLC pack. It's stats are almost identical to the Webley apart from being less powerful.
Webley Mk. VI
The Britsh Webley Mk. VI is the most powerful pistol in the game, however it must be cocked after every shot.
Welrod pistol Mark I
The British Welrod pistol Mark I is the first pistol Karl acquires. It's available into the base game and has the benefit of being suppressed. However, the Welrod has a slow rate of fire, and only one hit kills soldiers with headshots.
Submachine Guns
M3 Grease Gun
The American M3 Grease Gun is available in the Patriot's DLC pack. Described as having a distinctive look and sound to it, the Grease Gun has a relatively low fire rate, but decent damage. The weapon is also anachronistic to the time period, as the Grease Gun never saw wide spread usage until 1944.
MP40
The German MP40 is the second submachine gun obtained by Karl and is the standard axis SMG. It is more powerful and accurate than the Sten and has a greater range than the Thompson.
85
Sten Mk II
The British Sten Mk II is Karl's first submachine gun. It is modeled on the Canadian Mk II variant with a wire stock instead of the standard "T" type stock. The Sten is inferior to every automatic weapon in the game in every single way and should be exchanged as soon as possible. It is also worth noting that the Canadian version of the Sten MkII was not used in combat until August 1942 - two months before the events in the game.
Thompson M1A1
The American Thompson M1A1 is arguably the last submachine gun unlocked. It fires very powerful rounds and is fairly accurate in short bursts. Unlike in real life, the Thompson holds 32 rounds, instead of 30. Also the M1A1 did not begin production until October 1942 some months after the events in the game.
Assault Rifles
MP44
The German Sturmgewehr 44 can be downloaded with the Camo DLC pack, labeled the MP44. It has a green and yellow paint scheme to it and is the only assault rifle in the game. With a high rate of fire, the MP44
Shotguns
Winchester Model 1897 "Trench Gun"
The American Winchester Model 1897 "Trench Gun" is available in the Hunters DLC Pack and is the only shotgun in the game. While it delivers high damage, the weapon has a slow rate of fire, and the weapon becomes fairly inaccurate when firing in quick succession.
Sniper Rifles
Carcano M91/41
The Italian Carcano M91/41 is the second bolt action rifle unlocked. Described as having higher damage than the M1 Garand, the Carcano is one of the most powerful snipers in the game.
Gewehr 43
The German Gewehr 43 is the third sniper unlocked. The weapon is considered anachronistic since the game takes place in 1942. A more accurate weapon would be the Mauser Kar98k, which isn't present in the base game, despite being on the box cover art.
Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk.III* (HT)
The British Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk.III* (HT) is known for having very high stopping power and having a magazine on par with the Gewehr 43.
M1C Garand
The American M1C Garand is Karl's preferred sniper rifle and is the first sniper given to the player. Described in game as having a high rate of fire, with relatively good power. It should be noted that even the M1C, the earliest form of an M1 Garand sniper, saw limited action in World War II, it wasn't available during the North African campaign.
Hybrid M1914/17 Enfield rifle
The American M1917 Enfield is part of the Sniper rifle DLC pack. It's described in game for being known as the "American Enfield". The game, however, modeled the rifle with the lower receiver of the M1917, but with the scope mount and stock of the British P14. It should be noted that no sniper variants of the M1917 were used by American snipers, the majority being M1903A4 rifles. The P14 was known for having an telescopic scope attached, but fires the British .303 instead of the American .30-06.
Mosin Nagant M91/30
The Russian Mosin Nagant M91/30 is available in the Camo DLC pack, wrapped in the iconic white cloth used by some snipers on the Eastern Front. The weapon preforms similar to the Carcano bolt action rifle. This along with the Tokarev SVT 40 are the only Soviet weapons in the game.
Springfield M1903A4
The American Springfield M1903A4 is availiable in the Patriot's weapon DLC pack. It's described as having a high muzzle velocity and as a standard issue sniper for American snipers. There is also another variant part of the "Sniper" DLC pack that adds an "upgraded" version of the Springfield. This tuned version has more stopping power and a higher muzzle velocity. The tuned version also has a lighter wood finish than the stock variant.
Tokarev SVT-40
The Russian Tokarev SVT-40 is available in the Hunter DLC pack and is similar to some respects to the Gewehr 43. It's described as having a higher rate of fire than the Gewehr 43, but with lower zoom and lower damage.
Karabiner 98k
The Karabiner 98k is available in the "Sniper" rifle DLC pack, as well as on the front cover of the game. While early game screenshots shown the weapon in the base game, it appeared to be cut from the final version. It's described as being the standard issue sniper rifle of the German Army, or Wehrmacht.
