Fletch is a 1985 comedy starring Chevy Chase as a Los Angeles newspaper reporter who is presented with an unusual proposition by a wealthy individual. The film was based on a series of novels by Gregory McDonald and spawned a 1988 sequel.

A Smith & Wesson Model 27 chambered for the .357 Magnum is the weapon Alan Stanwyk (Tim Matheson) wants Fletch (Chevy Chase) to use to kill him.

The Smith & Wesson Model 36 is the weapon used by several cops in the film. One of the detectives that arrest Fletch in his apartment puts one to his head. Chief Karlin (Joe Don Baker) also aims one at Fletch in the police lockup.
