Chuck Connors was an American actor and athlete, most famous for his role as the lead in the American television series The Rifleman. He was one of the rare athletes who were able to play at the top professional levels at two sports, playing for the Boston Celtics, the Brooklyn Dodgers, and the Chicago Cubs. It was during a stint with the then minor league Los Angeles Angels that he was discovered by casting directors.
