- Not necessarily. In certain environments, one keeps the cap on the scope to (a)keep the optics from getting dust, dirt or damage if you're not using the scope and (b) if you're "instinct shooting" and not using the scope, you keep the cap on to keep the glare (and that nice bright reddish orange glass coating) from reflecting light.
- If the rear is open (can't tell from this angle) the red dot can be used as an occluded eye gun sight.
- But in the scene right after this one, the cap was off and we've seen the scope cap off up to this point. Excalibur01 06:44, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
