It is the Year 2016, Japan has suffered a catastrophic nuclear meltdown from the Odaiba nuclear power plant that contaminates Tokyo, making it the largest ghost city in the world. The high levels of radiation bars anyone from entering the contaminated zone. In an effort to search for any potential survivors, the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force dispatches a team code named: "Coppelion"', consisting of three teenage girls: Ibara Naruse, Aoi Fukasaku, and Taeko Nomura.
