Sniper is a 1993 action thriller starring Tom Berenger as Master Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Beckett, a USMC sniper who is paired with a rookie CIA sniper when assigned a mission to Colombia to eliminate a drug cartel leader. Berenger would return as Beckett in Sniper 2 and Sniper 3.
The following weapons were used in the film Sniper (1993):
Sniper Rifles
M40A1
Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Beckett (Tom Berenger), USMC Sniper, uses an M40A1 Sniper Rifle - 7.62x51mm NATO which is based on the Remington Model 700 Bolt Action Rifle.
The M40A1 rifles used in the film were Remington 700 rifles, supplied for the filming by 'Weapons and Effects' of San Rafael, CA. The rifles were fully prepared as though they would see real use, with aftermarket bedding, trigger jobs, McMillan stocks and parkerization done by Scott, McDougall & Associates of Santa Rosa, CA.
Heckler & Koch SR9TC
CIA sniper Richard Miller (Billy Zane) uses the Heckler & Koch SR9TC rifle as his weapon of choice.
SVD Dragunov
The guerrilla sniper DeSilva, who was trained by Beckett (Tom Berenger), uses an SVD Dragunov as his sniper rifle. Another guerrilla sniper at Ochoa's Compound also uses a Dragunov.
Rifles
M16A2
Cpl. Papich is seen with an M16A2 mounted with a scope as he and Beckett move to the extraction site at the beginning of the film.
Norinco Type-56
The Norinco Type 56 7.62X39mm rifle is carried by several guerrilla fighters in the film, most notably by the one who opens fire on the helicopter carrying Miller.
Possible Type 56
Some sort of AK variant possibly a Type 56 mocked up to look like an AKM is carried by several guerrilla fighters in the film. It is identifiable as not a AKM or Russian made AK from the hooded foresight that only Chinese AKs have.
L1A1 Self Loading Rifle
An L1A1 SLR rifle is seen hanging on a wall of the Marine Enlisted Club. As the movie was filmed in Australia and used an actual Australian Army NCO club this would have been an actual Lithgow Small Arms Factory Australian L1A1 with the original handguards prior to the introduction of the rounded variant more common on Australian L1A1's.
M1A1 Carbine
The leader of the guerrillas aiding Beckett carries an M1A1 Carbine.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5
The Heckler & Koch MP5 is seen carried by several Ochoa guards. One guard carries his MP5 9x19mm fitted with a night vision scope.
Shotguns
Remington 870
Another Ochoa guard carries a pistol-gripped Remington 870.
Machine Guns
Browning M2
"El Cirujano" (Ken Radley) fires a tripod mounted Browning M2 12.7x99mm (.50BMG) NATO at the lookout tower where Beckett was.
M60D
Marine doorgunners fire M60D machine guns from their Marine UH-1 helicopters.
RPD Light Machine Gun
Guerrillas are seen firing an RPD light machine gun into the countryside after Beckett's target is eliminated.
Handguns
LAR Grizzly Mk I.45 Winchester Magnum
"El Cirujano" (Ken Radley) carries a LAR Grizzly Mk I in his shoulder holster. Beckett is also able to use it at the end of the film.
SIG-Sauer P226
Beckett carries a SIG-Sauer P226 as his sidearm throughout the film.
Browning Hi-Power
An Ochoa soldier is seen aiming a Browning Hi-Power when the helicopter comes for the extraction.
Other
