Klute is a 1971 thriller that stars Donald Sutherland as John Klute, a private detective who is hired to investigate the disappearance of an executive and the discovery of a letter linked to an escort (portrayed by Jane Fonda). The cast also includes Roy Scheider and Charles Cioffi. The film was directed by Alan J. Pakula, and is considered the first film in his "Political Paranoia" trilogy, which includes The Parallax View and All the President's Men.
