Demolition Man is a 1993 science-fiction action film starring Sylvester Stallone as John Spartan, a Los Angeles cop with a reputation for destruction who is found guilty of a crime he didn't commit and is sentenced to be frozen in a cryogenic prison along with his nemesis Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes). When Phoenix escapes from the prison in the future world of San Angeles, Spartan is then unfrozen and asked to use his old school tactics to take down his archenemy. The film's cast also includes Sandra Bullock, Benjamin Bratt, and Denis Leary. The film is notable for featuring one of the first and only appearances of the Heckler & Koch G11, an experimental rifle at the time that was portrayed as futuristic magnetic pulse rifle.
The following weapons were used in the film Demolition Man:
During the 1996 prologue, LAPD officer John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone), aka "The Demolition Man", carries only a Beretta 92FS as he jumps from an LAPD helicopter onto the roof of the building Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) is holed up in. He also later uses one in his battle with Phoenix in the cryo prison. According to Long Mountain Outfitters, the Beretta 92F used by Spartan is the same one used by Bruce Willis in 1988's Die Hard, and has the extended slide release from that film.
Beretta 92FS Inox
In the future world of San Angeles, Spartan is seen using a Beretta 92FS Inox, as identified by its slide-mounted safety, as his main sidearm. He retrieves it from the Hall of Violence during his shootout with Phoenix. He uses it most notably to shoot up the display screens and one of the ticket-dispensing machines in the office of Dr. Raymond Cocteau (Nigel Hawthorne). Spartan's Beretta Inox is also held on him by one of the wasters after he is captured.
IMI Desert Eagle Mark VII
Among the weapons used by the people living in the San Angeles sewer system is a IMI Desert Eagle.
During the final shootout in the cryo-lab, Spartan is seen dual-wielding the Beretta 92FS and what appears to be a Smith & Wesson 59 handgun. This pistol is also used briefly in the museum shootout by Phoenix, dual-wielded along with his Smith & Wesson 3913NL.
Smith & Wesson Model 686 Snub
Spartan uses a snub-nosed Smith & Wesson Model 686 during the final shootout in the lab, which is given to him by Edgar Friendly (Denis Leary). The same weapon is also briefly used by Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock), and also by a Phoenix henchman early in the film.
LAR Grizzly Win Mag
A LAR Grizzly Win Mag is used by Phoenix very briefly near the end of the film.
Submachine Guns
Cobray M11/9
Several Cobray M11/9s are among the weapons procured by Phoenix from the museum. One of these weapons is later used by Phoenix to shoot at Spartan during the final scene in the cryo-lab.
Heckler & Koch MP5K
A Heckler & Koch MP5K is used by one of Phoenix's men at the beginning of the film. Phoenix also acquires a number of MP5Ks from the museum armory in 2032, which are used by henchmen, as well as Phoenix himself.
Heckler & Koch MP5KA4 (fitted with PDW folding stock)
In the museum shootout, one of the weapons used by Phoenix is a Heckler & Koch MP5K fitted with a PDW folding stock (though it is not a genuine MP5K-PDW, as evidenced by the lack of an extended barrel). This MP5K appears to be the KA4 variant, because in some scenes, it appears to have the 4-position lower receiver unit. The same gun is also used by the first henchman killed by Spartan at Phoenix's hideout in 1996.
Phoenix's henchmen are armed with a strange-looking Heckler & Koch MP5 variant that has a distinctive square-shaped flash hider fitted on the end of the barrel, an MP5SD-type hand guard, and a stockless buttcap. It appears twice in the film, first in 1996 (it's fired by the second henchman that John Spartan kills after rappelling from the helicopter), and later by another goon in 2032 during the underground shootout. This MP5 was originally built by Cinema Weaponry for the Albert Pyun movie Nemesis (it appeared on the poster for that film); along with Demolition Man, it was also later re-used in Executive Decision.
Shotguns
Remington Spartan Sawed-off Double Barrel Shotgun
The double barreled shotgun that John Spartan takes out of the display case is the Remington Spartan.
During the museum shootout, Phoenix wonders, "Wait a minute, this is the future. Where are all the phaser guns?" So he finds a futuristic particle Beam gun which is called a "Magnetic Accelerator". This rifle in reality appears to be the Heckler & Koch G11 fitted with a laser sight and other embellishments. Since the actual G11 was in the experimental stage at the time, this rifle was actually a mockup cast from a real G11 prototype that was briefly loaned to the production.
Ruger AC556F
An AC556F is used by one of Phoenix's new gang members in the fight in the sewers.
Norinco Type 56-1
The Chinese Norinco Type 56-1 is used by Phoenix and his future gang at many points in the movie, most notably to execute all the workers in the cryoprison.
FN FAL 50.61
In the opening scene of the film set in 1996, John Spartan takes out one of Phoenix's henchmen who is firing an FN FAL 50.61 Paratrooper at the LAPD from the window of the gang's hideout. This weapon is also later visible in the museum armory in the Hall of Violence.
Machine Guns
M60
In the opening scene of the film set in 1996, Phoenix's gang headquarters building is fitted with several M60 machine guns set up in the windows.
Other
Type 90 Double Barreled Flare Pistol
Edgar Friendly (Denis Leary) is seen using a double barreled pistol as his weapon of choice. According to Long Mountain Outfitters, the weapon is a Japanese double-barreled flare pistol, possibly a 28mm Kayaba Type 90 Signal Pistol, adopted by Japanese Imperial Navy in 1930.
"Hall of Violence" Armory
In the future, Phoenix visits the "Hall of Violence", which numerous other handguns, rifles and machine guns (apparently along with copious amounts of spare ammunition) are displayed for the citizens. Both Phoenix and Spartan procure their old-school weapons from this armory. (All weapons only seen in the armory and not actually used by the characters will be put here.)
IMI Uzi
A IMI Uzi is among the firearms on display in the museum's armory.
Gatling Gun
A Gatling Gun is prominently displayed in the hall next to various cannons.
