Was XM25's test stopped ?
I heard XM25's test was stopped by malfunction-caused shooter's injury.
I like this gun, if it's truth, I feel so sad.
It looks like there was a malfunction, which led to the Army pulling it from service. As a result, it appears that the Senate has cut all funding for the program. --Funkychinaman (talk) 11:57, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
From what those links say, it's a problem with the ammo rather than the weapon. Spartan198 (talk) 14:56, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
- Someone should've explained that to the politicians then. According to this, " 'A malfunction during this [weapon's deployment in Afghanistan] has raised very serious questions about the safety and effectiveness of the weapon. The committee further understands that the Army is in the process of opening consideration of other available or developmental grenade launchers that are capable of firing programmable munitions,' reads a copy of the committee's report on the 2014 defense-funding bill. 'Given the unreliable performance of the XM-25 and the Army's review of alternative air burst weapon systems, the committee recommends a decrease of $69.1 million in [the 2014 budget request] for the XM-25 counter defilade target engagement weapon system.'
- That "decrease" accounts for the entire cash amount the Army asked for to buy 1,400 of the weapons in its 2014 budget request. "

- You say that like nonsensical decisions by politicians are something new. Spartan198 (talk) 15:17, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
- It is a bit odd. This might be the worst time for a weapons system to start acting up, with the sequester and all, but it's not like the politicians didn't want the Army to spend ANY money, just on something other than this, which already has millions sunk into it. I'm not sure what they mean by an "alternative air burst weapon systems." The Barrett XM109?--Funkychinaman (talk) 15:28, 30 July 2013 (EDT)
