This is definately my favorite of the Collins/Margheriti trilogy, although you can't take it too seriously. I remember watching it around 1987/8 on late night tv and immediately liking it. Though theres a few things that are so weird....
- The suppressed sound of fired rounds, sort of like - boyong!!!
- The Thompson with the vertical foregrip is mocked up, the horizontal part is way to big
- The enemy wear both U.S. Army uniforms and use M16's as well as others wearing NVA style uniforms with AK's
- The bearded mercenary's wound at the beginning looks so real for a budget movie, i knew because a few years earlier i'd cut my knee down to the knee cap and it looked exactly the same.
Also does anyone know if the boat they use is real or mock up? --The Mercenary 16:04, 4 July 2012 (CDT)
- I suppose that the boat is real. The movie was filmed on Philippines with the help of Philippine Army that use small patrol crafts on rivers and lakes againt different rebels. And what do you think about the Thompson with the vertical foregrip? You say that it is mockup but what was used as a base? Greg-Z 00:54, 5 July 2012 (CDT)
- Thanks for the info on the Philipine Army, i'll look up their riverine forces.
- I think the Thompson is a M1A1 model, it looks like they've filled in the grove on the horizontal foregrip and stuck on a vertical hand grip, probably carved out of wood, if they had the early M1928 model they surely would've either used it or swapped the entire foregrip wouldn't they?--The Mercenary 17:58, 6 July 2012 (CDT)
