The 40-mm GP-25 under barrel grenade launcher is issued to the Russian Army. It is also used by Special Forces including SPETSNAZ and OMON. The grenade launcher fits the following assault rifles AKM, AKMS, AK-74, AK-74M, AK-101, AK-103 and AN-94.
Due to the various small problems with the GP-25 an upgraded version which was easier to use and lighter called the GP-30 Obuvka was developed. It was developed mainly for the AK-100 series but can also be fitted onto the AKM, AKMS and the AK-74.
