The Lone Ranger was the television adaptation of the masked lawman legend made popular in the popular film and radio serials. The series followed a former Texas Ranger who took the name of The Lone Ranger who along with his sidekick Tonto fought injustice in the Old West. For the majority of the series, Clayton Moore starred as the Ranger. The series aired on ABC for 221 episodes from 1949-1957. A feature film adaptation starring Johnny Depp is scheduled for release in 2013.

The "Artillery" model of the Single Action Army revolver fitted with custom grips is carried by the Lone Ranger (Clayton Moore) for the majority of the series.
