Defiance is a science fiction television set on Earth some time after a war with a group of aliens known as the Votans. After a ceasefire is declared after many years of fighting, the majority of organised government on both sides has been destroyed leading to many new factions and militias being created who pursue their own interests. The story focuses on a town known as "Defience" which stands in the ruins of St. Louis, in which both human and Votan survivors live together.
The series is the first of its kind, in that it is being produced in concert with a massively multiplayer online game by Trion Worlds. Events that occur in one will effect the other, and characters will transfer back and forth between the game and television series.

The leader of the Irathient Spirit Riders in the pilot episode (S01E01) uses a Beretta 92FS whilst robbing Nolan and Irissa.

During the confrontation in the Need/Want in the pilot episode (S01E01) one of McCawley's men draws a Glock 17.
SIG-Sauer P226R
During the confrontation in the Need/Want in the pilot episode (S01E01) Rafe McCawley (Graham Greene) has a SIG-Sauer P226R.
Colt MK IV Series 80 Enhanced
Rafe McCawley (Graham Greene) uses a Colt MK IV Series 80 Enhanced in the pilot episode (S01E01).
Unidentified M1911 Variant 2
Datak Tarr (Tony Curran) uses an M1911 pistol with vertical slide serrations and an ambidextrous safety.

Winchester Model 1200
One of the Lawkeeper's deputies that rescues Nolan and Irissa outside the shield is armed with what appears to be a Winchester Model 1200 with a long barrel.

In the pilot episode (S01E01) Tommy (Dewshane Williams) uses a Beretta Model RS-202 M2 during the Volge attack.

One of the Defiance residents can be seen with a Micro Uzi during the Volge attack in the pilot episode (S01E01). One of the Irathient Spirit Riders can also briefly be seen brandishing a Micro Uzi.

Remington 7400
One of the Lawkeeper's deputies that rescues Nolan and Irissa outside the shield is armed with a Remington 7400.

Colt M4A1s are used by several Defiance residents, with or without M203 grenade launchers and RIS systems.

An M16A4 are used by Defiance residents in the pilot episode (S01E01).
Galil ACE 21
Datak Tarr (Tony Curran) uses a Galil ACE 21 during the Volge attack in the pilot episode (S01E01).
Heckler & Koch G36C
Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler) uses a Heckler & Koch G36C during the Volge attack in the pilot (S01E01). It is fitted with a non standard carry handle which has integral folding iron sights. These are the source of many a continuity error in the episode with the position of the site switching back and forth between shots.
SIG SG 552
Several Defiance residents can be seen with SIG SG 552s during the Volge attack in the pilot episode (S01E01).
Unidentified Bolt Action Rifle
Christie McCawley (Nicole Muñoz) uses a bolt action rifle during the Volge attack in the pilot episode (S01E01).

PKM SOPMOD
During the Volge attack in the pilot episode (S01E01) a Sensoth can be seen with a PKM SOPMOD.
