Stellan Skarsgård is a Swedish actor who has gained fame worldwide in his many roles in popular American movies, despite already being a star in his native Sweden. He became well known to American moviegoers as the nemesis Captain Tupolev in The Hunt for Red October. He later starred in films like the original Insomnia (1997), Good Will Hunting, Ronin, Deep Blue Sea, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. One of his best known roles was Boot Strap Bill in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, as well as the historical films King Arthur, Helen of Troy, the 2004 supernatural thriller Exorcist: The Beginning and the popular musical adaptation of Mamma Mia. He is also the father of actor Alexander Skarsgård.
