Some of the US Special Forces commanded by General Buck Swain (Tom Berenger) are armed with what appear to be M16 rifles. Closer inspection makes these rifles out to be MGC replicas.

The 'forward assist' on the early models like the one imaged here are bolt inserts to keep the receiver together. Modern MGC M16 replicas have improved by third parties over the years (like adding A1 flash hiders) making it more accurate to the real thing making it harder for 'Connoisseurs' to identify
