The Exterminator is a 1980 action film directed by James Glickenhaus. The story tells about John Eastland (Robert Ginty), a Vietnam veteran turned vigilante.
The following weapons are seen in the movie The Exterminator:
Revolvers
Smith & Wesson Model 29
The main weapon used by John Eastland (Robert Ginty) in his vigilante business is a Smith & Wesson Model 29 revolver. This revolver is correctly identified as ".44 Magnum" in the movie.
Unidentified revolver 1
A revolver is seen in John Eastland's (Robert Ginty) weapon box (except the forementioned Smith & Wesson Model 29). It is supposed to be a Smith & Wesson Model 10HB with 3" barrel but this is only a guess based on the shape and lenght of the ejector rod. This revolver was not used in action.
Unidentified revolvers
Det. James Dalton (Christopher George) carries a service revolver that is never seen clear enough to be identified. Various detectives and police officers also carry holstered revolvers.
Colt Python
The food warehouse owner (this character is supposedly credited as Mr. Hoffman (John L. Fitzgerald)) is seen with a Colt Python (supposedly 3" barrel) revolver in one scene.
Pistols
M1911A1
In the opening scene one of Vietcong fighters carries a pistol that resembles M1911A1 (its slide seems to be longer than typical M1911). John Eastland (Robert Ginty) captures this pistol and uses it himself. An M1911-style pistol is also seen in Eastland's weapon box (it can be the same Colt MK IV Series 70 that appeares later in James Dalton's weapon box). This pistol was not used in action.
Luger P08
A Luger P08 is seen in John Eastland's (Robert Ginty) weapon box. Due to the lenght of the barrel, it is a Marine version of the pistol with a 150 mm barrel (shorter than Artillery model with a 200 mm barrel). It was not used in action.
Colt MK IV Series 70
A Colt MK IV Series 70 pistol is one of Det. James Dalton's (Christopher George) weapons. Dalton carries it in the final scene (then this pistol switches to a revolver).
Submachine Guns
MP40
An MP40 is seen in John Eastland's (Robert Ginty) weapon box. It was not used in action.
Shotguns
High Standard Model 10B
A High Standard Model 10B shotgun is one of Det. James Dalton's (Christopher George) weapons.
Winchester Model 1897
Winchester Model 1897 are seen in hands of a plainclothes police officers.
Double barreled coach gun
One of plainclothes police officers carries a double barreled coach gun.
Assault Rifles
M16
An original M16 is used by John Eastland (Robert Ginty) during the attack on Ghetto Ghouls clubhouse. It can be identified due to the 3-prong flash hider.
M16/SP1
In the opening scene that takes place in Vietnam US Army sodiers are armed with M16/SP1s.
Valmet M71S
Valmet M71S assault rifles are seen in hands of Viet Cong fighters in the opening scene. These are meant to stand in for the AK-47 or Norinco Type 56 rifles that the Viet Cong would have used in real life (since there were few AK pattern firearms available in the U.S. at the time this movie was filmed).
Sniper Rifles
Mosin Nagant M38 Carbine
A Mosin Nagant M1938 carbine with sniper scope is seen in hands of a plainclothes police officer. Later it switches to another sniper rifle.
Unidentified sniper rifle
A sniper rifle is used by one of plainclothes police officers.
Machine Guns
M60
In the opening scene Michael Jefferson (Steve James) carries an M60 machine gun. M60s are also seen in hands of other US Army soldiers and Vietcong fighters.
Other Weapons
M8 Flare Pistol
In the opening scene Michael Jefferson (Steve James) fires a flare pistol to signal the resque helicopter. It is supposed to be an M8.
Mk 2 Hand Grenade
Two Mk 2 hand grenades are seen in John Eastland's (Robert Ginty) weapon box. They were not used in action.
Custom Flamethrower
A custom flamethrower is one of the weapons used by John Eastland (Robert Ginty). Eastland uses it to intimidate one of Ghetto Ghouls thugs.
M9A1 Rifle Grenade
Two chrome plated M9A1 Rifle Grenades (red number 6) are seen in John Eastland's (Robert Ginty) weapon box.
Unidentified Item 2
Three unidentified items (red number 7) are seen in John Eastland's (Robert Ginty) weapon box. They resemble small anti-personnel mines, like Russian POMZ-2.
