Lawless is a 2012 gangster film directed by John Hillcoat (The Road) based on the true story of a family of bootleggers (portrayed by Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Jason Clarke) who decide to fight back against a corrupt politician and his agent. The film is set in Franklin County, Virginia in 1931, late in the Prohibition era.
The film's cast includes Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce, and Gary Oldman. It was based on the book The Wettest County in the World, written by Matt Bondurant, grandson of Jack.

Several law enforcement officers including Sheriff Hodges (Bill Camp) are armed with the Colt Police Positive revolver. Banner's driver Gummy Walsh (Noah Taylor) also uses a Police Positive.

Single Action Army Cavalry
One of the drunken thugs in the Blackwater station carries a Single Action Army Cavalry Model with a 7.5" barrel. Cricket Pate (Dane DeHaan) picks it up off of the ground and uses it to subdue the man. In the book, it was an older station assistant named Hal who had grabbed the SAA.
Smith & Wesson Model 10 (Nickel)
Special Agent Charlie Rakes (Guy Pearce) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 10 with a nickel finish in a black leather belt holster on his right side.
Webley .38 Mk IV
Howard Bondurant's (Jason Clarke) sidearm of choice in the film is a Webley .38 Mk IV, seen during the opening sequence in 1918 and later during the bridge shootout. Jack (Shia LeBeouf) and Cricket Pate (Dane DeHaan) also pose with the revolver on Jack's car.
