Smith & Wesson Model 459

Carried by the FBI agent, Will Graham, at the beginning of the movie. In a shoulder holster.The F.B.I. purchased 803 specimens of this model and issued it to agents in the early eighties.The second generation 459 was manufactured from 1979-1987. When Red Dragon starts it's 1980 so it is consistent.

Smith & Wesson Model 38 Airweight Bodyguard

Carried by Graham as his backup gun in an ankle holster. Uses it to shoot Dr. Lector after he has been stabbed by Lector. In the beginning of the movie.There is also a possibility that it is the Model 49 Bodyguard. The difference being that the Model 49 has an all steel frame where the Model 38 has an alloy frame.
