The Killing Fields (1984)

The Killing Fields is a 1984 drama directed by Roland Joffe and stars Sam Waterston as Sydney Schanberg, who along with his fellow journalist Dith Pran (Haing S. Ngor) were witnesses to the rise of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia in the 1970s. Haing Ngor (who himself also endured the real-life Killing Fields of Cambodia) would win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Pran in the film.
