The Closer was a television crime series that starred Kyra Sedgwick as Brenda Leigh Johnson, a CIA-trained interrogator specializing in closing cases who accepts a job as the head of the Priority Homicide Division (later the Major Crimes Division) of the Los Angeles Police Department. Throughout the series, Brenda's unorthodox methods of gaining confessions from suspects causes friction between her and the detectives under her command. The series aired for seven seasons on the TNT Network from 2005-2012 and a spinoff series entitled Major Crimes premiered in 2012.
The following weapons were used in the television series The Closer:
Handguns
Glock 26
Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) carries the Glock 26 as her sidearm. Detective Irene Daniels (Gina Ravera) carried the Glock 26 as well from seasons 1 through 4.
Glock 19
Lt. Tao (Michael Paul Chan) carries the Glock 19 as his duty weapon. The Glock 19 is also carried by FBI Special Agent Fritz Howard (Jon Tenney).
Beretta 92FS
Lt. Louie Provenza (G.W. Bailey), Detective Sanchez (Raymond Cruz) and Sgt. David Gabriel (Corey Reynolds) carry the LAPD's previously standard issue Beretta 92FS as their onduty sidearms. Lt. Tao (Michael Paul Chan) also carried a Beretta in Season 1. Detective Sanchez (Raymond Cruz) is seen with a non-gun Beretta when confronting a mob hitman who is seen shooting up the squad room with Lt. Provenza's weapon. The detectives are notably seen drawing their sidearms in Season 4's "Time Bomb".
Smith & Wesson 4516
Lieutenant Andy Flynn (Anthony John Denison)'s sidearm is a compact Smith & Wesson pistol, which appears to be a Smith & Wesson 4516 in .45 ACP.
SIG-Sauer P228
In Season 1, FBI Special Agent Fritz Howard (Jon Tenney) carried a SIG-Sauer P228 as his sidearm.
Beretta 950 Jetfire
In "Show Yourself" (S1E04), D.B. Walter Jr. (Conrade Gamble), a rogue sniper, makes a grab for his Beretta 950 Jetfire when confronted by Brenda Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick).
Shotgun
Mossberg 590 Cruiser
During a stakeout Lt. Provenza (G.W. Bailey) is armed with a Mossberg 590 Cruiser / 590 Compact Cruiser.
Remington 870
In episode Serving the King, Part 2 (2.14) and L.A.P.D. SIS detective is seen with what appears to be a Wilson Customized Remington 870 shotgun. The Remington 870 is taken the place of the classic Ithaca 37 in the L.A.P.D.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A2
LAPD SWAT officers carry Heckler & Koch MP5A2s equipped with Surefire dedicated forend weaponlights throughout the series.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
An L.A.P.D. SIS detective is seen with a Heckler & Koch MP5A3 with dedicated forend weaponlight in the episode Serving the King Pt. 2 (2.14)
Uzi
In "Next of Kin" (S3E14), two armored car robbers are armed with Uzi Submachine Guns.
Rifles
M4A1
In "You Are Here", a SWAT officer is briefly seen armed with the M4A1. In Season 4's "Time Bomb" (S4E10), the Major Crimes Division engages in a shootout at a shopping mall against a heavily armed and armored teenage spree killer who is carrying an M4A1 carbine assault rifle. This gun is used to wound Detective Sanchez.
Remington 700
A sniper (Conrade Gamble) being hunted by the squad can be seen with a Remington 700PSS in "Show Yourself" (S1E04). In "Next of Kin" (S3E14), Detective Sanchez (Raymond Cruz) is seen on a rooftop during a stakeout armed with what appears to be a Remington 700PSS/700P. The rifle appears to be fitted with a green synthetic stock instead of the black stock. The Closer is filmed with the close technical cooperation of the L.A.P.D. so it's assumed that the rifle is correct.
