Sir Richard Attenborough began his show business career as a film actor in 1942 and has appeared in such films as The Great Escape and The Sand Pebbles. He occasionally still appears in front of the camera, e.g., Jurassic Park and also is an Academy-Award winning film director (Gandhi). He is a British citizen and was made a life peer in 1993.
