Alonzo Denzel Washington carries twin Smith & Wesson 645s in .45 ACP with custom rear sights throughout Training Day. The S&W 645 has a history of flashy owners, Det. James 'Sonny' Crockett Don Johnson carried a S&W 645 in seasons 3 and 4 of Miami Vice. To my knowledge the S&W 645 has never been a standard issue pistol in the LAPD, although it has seen standard issue service with other law enforcement departments throughout the country. For Alonzo a pair of S&W 645s are fitting; the imposing presence of a Colt 1911, more powerful than the standard issue LAPD 9mm, and unique enough to get noticed.

The following weapons were used in the film Training Day:

Beretta 92FS

Hoyt (Ethan Hawke) carries the LAPD standard issue 9mm Beretta 92FS throughout the film. Much like Hoyt the Beretta 92 has a history of reliability, accuracy and ruggedness. For a "by the books" man like Hoyt the Beretta 92FS is a great choice.

S&W 645

Alonzo (Denzel Washington) carries twin Smith & Wesson 645s in .45 ACP with custom rear sights throughout Training Day.

Glock 17

Mark, one of the men in Alonzo's unit, carries a Glock 17. In my opinion this was a poor choice by the films Armorer for Mark's character. We know very little about the men in Alonzo's unit, but we do know that Mark wears nice suits. For a man in a nice tailored suit a Glock 17 would be his last choice, it's simply too pedestrian - something along the lines of a custom, or factory custom Sig Sauer P229 in .40 S&W, would have been a better choice.
