The following guns were used in the film Dog Day Afternoon
M1 Carbine
Sonny (Al Pacino) swings an M1 Carbine throughout Dog Day Afternoon. Many of the police that surround the bank also carry M1 Carbines with an extended 30 round magazine.
S&W 76 submachine gun
The SMG that Sal carries is a Smith & Wesson 76 submachine gun which is based on the Swedish Carl Gustav m/45.
.38 Revolver
A .38 S&W revolver is seen in a stash box on the drivers door of the van used to transport the hostages to the Airport and is used later by the FBI to shoot Sal.
