Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is the 2010 sequel to IO Interactive's 2007 shooter, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. The game picks up four years after the bleak endings of the first game as Lynch, now in Shanghai working for an English crime lord and his gang of expatiate criminals, contacts Kane for a supposedly "bulletproof" arms deal. A reluctant Kane agrees in order to provide for his (even more after the events of Dead Men) estranged daughter. Soon after Kane arrives, the deal goes bad and the "most notorious criminals in gaming" are forced to fend for themselves against what seems like the entire city of Shanghai.
NOTE: Like a number of other games (Manhunt, for example) Kane & Lynch 2 uses graphical filters to deliberately reduce quality, to create the impression that the game was shot on a cheap portable camera. Apparent poor quality in screenshots is how the game is designed to look.
(*) is a DLC only indicator.
The following weapons appear in the video game Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days:
Handguns
- Handguns are seen as having incredible accuracy, enabling decent long distance shots, they also have the quickest "pop out" time from cover and most amount of concealment during blind fire.
Norinco 9mm Police Revolver
The Norinco Police revolver appears in single-player as the main arm of a minority of Chinese police. The revolver can be purchased in Fragile Alliance and is the first of three revolvers available.Called the "Copper" in-game.
Norinco Model 77B
The Norcino 77B appears frequently throughout the game. In single-player, it is undoubtedly the most common pistol in single-player, with it being easy to find even on Chinese SWAT that appears in the last few levels. The pistol is one of the default weapons issued to a player in Fragile Alliance, although it is recommended to replace it with something else quickly as it lacks stopping power. Called the "N 77P" in-game.
Desert Eagle
A Desert Eagle chambered in .50 AE is found in the first level and for purchase as an upper tier handgun in Fragile Alliance. The model for the weapon appears to have come from another one of IO Interactive's games: Hitman: Blood Money. Called "Wasteland Hawk" in-game.
Taurus Judge
A Taurus Judge can be purchased if the player in the top rank in Fragile Alliance. Interestingly, this is the first video game appearance of the Judge. Called "TOQ Model 66X" in-game.
Tokarev TT-33 (*)
A Tokarev can be purchased in Fragile Alliance and is called the "DD 33" in-game.
Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92FS makes an appearance in both single-player and for purchase in Fragile Alliance. Kane or Lynch will often find them on police they take as human shields and they both get silenced ones during the final level. In Fragile Alliance the Beretta can be bought for cheap and serves as a decent pistol and one of the only silenced ones available without purchasing DLC. Called the "Doretta" in-game.
SIG-Sauer P226R
A SIG P226R can be purchased in Fragile Alliance as a mid-tier pistol. It is heavily customized with a pink camo paint, a sky blue slide and rhinestones and a cartoon character on the grip. Called the"Nianshi 226" in-game.
Heckler & Koch USP
Silhouettes of two Heckler & Koch USP pistols can be seen on the Achievement/Trophy called "Kill or be Killed".
Smith & Wesson M&P
A Smith & Wesson M&P in .45 ACP and a tan frame can be purchased in Fragile Alliance, where it is widely regarded as the best pistol for it's stopping power and magazine capacity. This is the second appearance of the M&P in a video game, with it only being beaten by Alpha Protocol, which was released only a few months earlier. Called the "SM45" in-game.
Colt King Cobra (*)
A Colt King Cobra can be purchased in Fragile Alliance where it goes under the name "KL Viper". The name 'KL Viper' is a reference to the Colt snake named revolvers (and Kane & Lynch as well).
AMT Hardballer Custom
The customized AMT Hardballer Agent 47 uses in the Hitman video games can be seen on various DVD covers and posters promoting the Hitman series, which was also developed by IO Interactive.
Machine Pistols
- Machine Pistols fire fully automatic with horrible accuracy and usually low damage, but great to use to "spray and pray" groups of enemies and for finishing off 'downed' players in Fragile Alliance.
Ingram MAC-10
MAC-10s appear frequently during the earlier levels of the game, where it is the first fully-automatic weapon the player acquires. Both suppressed and unsuppressed MACs appear in Fragile Alliance as inaccurate, yet cheap, weapons ideal for finishing off downed players.Called the "PAC 10" in-game.
Heckler & Koch SP89
A H&K SP89 can be purchased in Fragile Alliance, where it largely fills the same role as the MAC-10. It is incorrectly depicted as being suppressed and as being fully-automatic. Called the "DK ST80" in-game.
Steyr MPi 69 (*)
The Steyr MPi69 appears in the hands of several police and criminals during the Fragile Alliance heists, where it can also be purchased.Called the "SMi 69" in-game.
SA vz. 61 Škorpion
The Skorpion appears often during the single player levels, typically in the hands of Hsing's thugs. It is slightly rarer to find than the MAC-10, but is preferable to it, due to it's slower firing rate and higher accuracy. The Skorpion can be purchased in Fragile Alliance. In both single and multiplayer the model for the weapon is grossly oversized.
Submachine Guns
- SMG's have great rates of fire and are decent at medium to long distance shooting. However they make you less exposed during blind fire with average accuracy.
Heckler & Koch UMP
A Heckler & Koch UMP can be purchased with and without a suppressor in Fragile Alliance. It is among the most accurate SMGs available at the higher levels.
Heckler & Koch USC (*)
The USC model also makes an appearance in Fragile Alliance. This being the civilian version it would normally hold ten rounds, and be semi automatic, but has been modified to hold much more, and be full automatic. Called the "TOQ SBR" in-game, a strange name, given that in gun culture, "SBR" means "Short Barreled Rifle", referring to barrels under 16 inches, which this gun clearly does not have.
Norinco Type 79
The Norinco Type 79 is fairly common among the Chinese police and SWAT teams toward the middle and end of the game, where it serves mostly as an upgraded MAC-10, that is, a not-so accurate spray gun. Like every other gun, it can be bought from the Shanghai P.D. evidence locker. It has the same accuracy problem as in singleplayer, but good stopping power for a decent price.
QCW-05
Used by Kane and Lynch in screenshots. Found in-game with and without silencer. Called "Nianshi 500" in-game
Assault Rifles
- Having a slower rate of fire than the SMG, Assault Rifles exceed in long distance shots, as well as being able to break down cover easily, however they make you more exposed during blind fire, longer "pop out" time, and horrible blind fire accuracy.
SIG SG 552
Fired by Kane in the CGI reveal trailers, and held by Kane on the box art. Sadly, much like the Hi-Power on Dead Men's box, it is not in the game.
Zastava M85
Stockless Zastava M85s are used by mercenaries during the Fragile Alliance multiplayer mode in a screenshot. It is the standard weapon for players in all the Fragile Alliance modes. It is called "Vamazast" in-game.
Norinco QBZ-95
Used by both criminals, and police in multiple trailers. It is the most expensive assault rifle in Fragile Alliance and can be found with and without a scope. It is called "Buqiang 900" in-game
SCAR-H (*)
Able to be purchased in Fragile Alliance with the limited edition of the game. Called the "TOQ Elite" in-game.
AKM (*)
A weirdly colored AKM can be obtained from the limited edition and be used in Fragile Alliance. The metal parts are a pink-ish purple, while the wood is lighter, almost faded. The weapon is opened with 'Goodbye Kitty Gun' DLC. An obvious play on the 'Hello Kitty' franchise. Called "Kaliningrad 47" in-game.
AK-74M
Used by Kane in the E3 trailer and used by police in Fragile Alliance. Called "Kaliningrad 74" in-game.
Shotguns
Hawk Pump Bullpup Shotgun
Can be bought in Fragile Alliance if the player is the top rank. Incorrectly depicted as being fully automatic. Called "Buqinag 300BP" in-game. A lucky burst will destroy an escape vehicle in Fragile Alliance.
FN Tactical Police Shotgun (*)
The FN Tactical Police is wielded by Lynch in one of the screenshots. Called "RTS" in-game.
Franchi SPAS-12
Used by Lynch in multiple screenshots. Called "Gras 12" in-game. It sounds almost as if it were equipped with a silencer even though it isn't.
Hawk Semi-Auto Shotgun
Wielded by Lynch in one of the screenshots. Called "TOQ Model 18" in-game.
A sawed off version is also seen. Oddly it is called "Nianshi 40XR" giving it a different name from it's unsawn-off brother.
Remington 870 (*)
Lynch is shown holding a sawed-off Remington 870 in one of the promotional photos. A standard-length version with a pistol grip is available in Fragile Alliance with the limited edition of the game, and is called the "Steele 870" (a reference to the TV series Remington Steele).
Sniper Rifle
- Rarely seen in the campaign, sniper rifles have no scoped view, making them difficult to use.
Norinco QBU-88
Used by Lynch During a E3 demo, and by cops in the Arcade Mode Trailer. Can be found and bought with and without scopes, although the scoped model only gives the player a further, scope-less, zoom. Called the "Buqiang 800" in-game
Machine Gun
- An amazing weapon, high fire rate and a good field of fire allows you to take out groups of enemies quickly.
QJY-88
A QJY-88 is seen being clutched by Lynch in a screenshot and being used by Kane in a trailer. It has no in-game name, as it's not available for purchase in the multiplayer modes. The weapon itself is arguably the best weapon in the singleplayer mode, as it keeps it's accuracy over long bursts and has the biggest ammo capacity of any weapon in the game.
Rocket Launcher
Not usable by the player, an RPG can be seen (if you're lucky) for a split second in the 'Airstrike' level.
RPG-7
As said above, the exact same RPG-7, as in same model and the same firing sound, from Kane and Lynch: Dead Men can be seen for a brief moment in 'Airstrike'.
