Above the Law is the 1988 action movie that launched Steven Seagal's movie career. In the film, Seagal stars as Nico Toscani, a Chicago cop with a CIA past and family in the Mafia who investigates the assassination of a local priest that may be part of a government conspiracy. The film (which was also released under the title Nico) was directed by Andrew Davis, who would also direct Seagal in Under Siege.
The following weapons were used in the film Above the Law:
Colt Government
Chicago cop Nico Toscani (Steven Seagal) carries a Colt Government as his main sidearm in the film. During the shootout in the meatpacking district, his Government changes several times to a Commander (see below). In reality, Steven Seagal owns and uses in real life several 1911s.
Colt Commander
After he returns home to get his wife and child out of the house, Toscani retrieves a bag containing several weapons, including a Colt Commander (or Combat Commander).
Beretta 92SB
Toscani uses a Beretta 92SB as he and the other cops go to rescue the priest.
Beretta 87 Cheetah
Toscani confronts FBI agent Neeley with a Beretta 87 Cheetah.
Heckler & Koch P9S
The Heckler & Koch P9S is the main sidearm of Nelson Fox (Chelcie Ross) when he reunites with Toscani later in the film. After he's shot in the parking garage, Fox hands off his P9 to Toscani.
SIG-Sauer P220
When thugs shoot up his car with automatic weapons, Toscani draws his SIG-Sauer P220 on the men.
Charter Arms Bulldog
The Charter Arms Bulldog is the handgun carried by drug dealer Tony Salvano (Daniel Faraldo).
Heckler & Koch HK94
A Heckler & Koch HK94 chopped and converted is fired by several thugs throughout the film.
Smith & Wesson Model 686
A Smith & Wesson Model 686 is used by Zagon (Henry Silva).
Mossberg 500 Cruiser
Toscani keeps a Mossberg 590 Cruiser with extended magazine tube and heat shield in his arsenal of weapons at home. Zagon also uses one in the apartment shootout when he wounds Toscani's partner Delores "Jacks" Jackson (Pam Grier).
Mossberg 500 Bullpup
One of the men sent to kill Toscani uses a Mossberg 500 Bullpup to shoot up the car.
Norinco Type 56
One of the men sent to kill Toscani uses a Norinco Type 56 rifle to shoot up the car.
Colt XM177 Commando
During their tour in Vietnam, both Toscani and Fox are seen carrying Colt XM177 Commando rifles. Another XM177 is seen in the hands of one of the gunman who shoots up Toscani's car.
