I believe they made a conventional submachine gun based on the VP in 1918, but I'm not sure if that was before or after the MP18. Though it failed or something, didn't the French make a submachine gun before Italy and Germany? Or was that an assault rifle? [[User:Scutshakes|Scutshakes]] 16:41, 3 January 2012 (CST)

Can this be classified as the first submachine gun? All this was really was a mounted machine gun that fired 9mm Glisenti ammunition. You couldn't carry the damned thing unless you were an Italian bodybuilder. The German's MP18 was the first in my opinion.

I believe they made a conventional submachine gun based on the VP in 1918, but I'm not sure if that was before or after the MP18. Though it failed or something, didn't the French make a submachine gun before Italy and Germany? Or was that an assault rifle? Scutshakes 16:41, 3 January 2012 (CST)
